Its done! My first Tamiya airplane model is finished and was a nice change from my usual builds which are old Monogram or Revell kits, only the Amtech Ta 183 was as good fitting as this Do 335B kit. Very highly recommended.

That's a purty one.  I've been eyballing those Pfiels for a while now.  Never built one yet, though.  Nice pics, too.

noxioux,

Thanks for the comment on my pics!

You will be very happy with the Tamiya Do 335 kit if you chose to get one, it is money well spent.
I have the twin cockpit version of the Do 335 in my kit stash and would be working on it right now if I did not have so many other projects waiting to get finished.

That looks great, Matrix.

I haven't started mine yet but when I do, it'll be in a Finland Pocket, Summer 1946 scheme.... Kind of inspired by the JG54 109F/190A schemes of summer 41/42.

Mmmmmm

Matrix that mirror wave effect is fantastic

There was a Do 335 in the competition at Perth  The guy who built it spent quite a lot of time talking to us on the stand as he's trying to build all the 335/435/635 projects in 1/48 using the Tamiya kit - apparently he got a good deal on some !

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Beautifully made and finished Matrix. The Do 335 is my all-time favourite airplane.

Ah, Matrix, you ARE incredible.
I get so focused on your photo and the diorama that I have to take a step back and realize also the fact that you have also completed another fantastic model, one that IMHO is worthy of competition, in what appears to be record time.

Fantastic work again: model, background, and photography!

Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Thank you Ian, NARSES 2, Tony, greg, and John!

Ian,
Your idea on the camouflage sounds fantastic! It is too bad the Do 335 was only produced using the factory splinter camouflage, it would be modeled more often if there was some variation in its camouflage.

NARSES 2,
That guy that is building all the 335/435/635 versions must have ordered them in bulk to get a price break, otherwise he must be very wealthy.

Tony,
The Do 335 was a very good looking a/c, after the war ended some American servicemen called it a ''Buck Rodgers space plane'' because of its sleek looks.

John,
I think it is important to photograph our ''what-if'' type of models in realistic looking settings since it might catch the attention of modelers who build regular models and they might give our style of modeling a try when they see a ''what-if'' model looking as good as their ''real'' a/c models.

Hi Matrix,

Lovely model! The two-seater version is such a wonderful plane too.

One of the blokes in my hobby club went on a trip to Germany years ago and actually saw one of these Dorniers up close. He's easily 6 feet tall and said he could walk underneath the whole damn thing without even stooping.

Thanks Allan!

I might do another Do 335B next year in fighter style camouflage.

I've got a Dragon DO335 nightfighter in my stash, omplete with etched aerials....

lancer,
I built the 1/72 Dragon Do 335B kit a couple years ago and what Wooksta said about it is correct, it is not a trouble free build and getting enough weight added to the nose to get the correct balance is difficult because there is very little room to stash the lead.

Wooksta,
If I do another Do 335B I will probably paint and mark it like a Bf 110G-2 or a Me 410, I can't recall seeing a Do 335 in 74/75/76 camo before.
You will reall enjoy building the Tamiya Do 335, a trouble free build of an interesting a/c and no worries about it being a tail sitter.

Wooksta,

Another interesting idea for Do 335B camouflage would be what was used on the Fw 190D-13 ''Yellow 10'', 82 and 83 mottle over 75 base coat with undersurfaces in 76 and NMF.

Fantastic shots of a fantastic model Matrixone. As usual, your pictures make it look real.
