By the mid 1970s the US Marines had begun to consider replacing its Hercules cargo/tanker. An ambitious design was made by Lockheed-Georgia for three  CFM-56 turbofanned engines to replace the turboprops with refinements to the fuselage.
Boeing and McConnell Douglas based their proposals on the Advanced Medium STOL Transport AMST, a T-tail with four turbofans based on the C-130 and Boeing a swept winged twin turbofanned with a T-tail.
The US Navy wanted to adapt the designs for the TACAMO, take charge and move out missions replacing the EC-130 G/Q aircraft used to communicate with ICBM-carrying submarines.
Despite these proposals the US Navy had the US Marines chose to keep the C-130.

My build will be based on the Bell AMST prototype drawings and artwork. I have a suitable 1/72 Lockheed C-130 without any wings and a started B-47E intended for the MIT Project LAMP LIGHT .
