I absolutely love dazzle camouflage! There were a few examples of B-24s being painted with dazzle camouflage but I can't seem to find images of them now.

I thought this scheme was quite effective!

IIRC they were painted as 'Assembly Ships'; easy to see for the Bomber Force to form up on, then after the job was complete, they'd head back to base.

Shep Paine did a model once, of a B-24 getting it's Hi-Vis paint job - I think it was the one shown, 'First Sergeant'.

And I don't care what Taylor is wearing, she still looks great!

I built a 1/72 'First Sergeant' back in the mid-70s, from the old Revel B-24D.

Being an idiot I fitted it with four Airfix 'Spin-a-prop' motors and you just had to flick the props to start them all going. They made quite a breeze I can tell you! Stopping them was a different matter, I've lost count of how many prop blades and even complete props I've had to replace! It was easier just to press my finger on the prop's boss until it stopped. There were two AA batteries mounted one above the other in the bomb bay, and to compound the felony the model has the lighting kit from a FROG VC10 installed so it has working flashing beacons along the roof.

Oh yeah, the dots. They're all done with a hole punch and coloured Letraset, and the ones over the OD section all have a white one underneath the coloured spot to get the shade correct. All in all there's over 500 dots on it.  ;D

I've still got the model even now, and occasionally start it up, just because............

I'd love to see this one...

...in colour.  In my head it is all colours of the rainbow resulting in a seagoing version of The Merry Pranksters bus.  HMAS Further...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

I found the one I meant!! It wasn't an assembly ship, it was a really cool disruptive cammo  ;D

ouch  :o
that is really mind bending in the forced perspective
the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady
take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.
wow, its like freefalling into the Geofront

That's very clever, and would have taken an age to paint onto the aeroplane. Doing it as a decal sheet would be even MORE difficult I'm sure!  :o

Dazzle swimwear was a thing in the late WWI period.

Dazzle bathing suits etc.

BTW when you dig into the subject Wilkinson's claims and the standard narrative become a bit squishy.

I've one in the stash, £4 at SMW a couple of years ago.  Was sorely tempted to whif it for the Downfall GB, have considered RW transport build but found a decal sheet for a straight RW build.  Truth be known I'm waiting to see how/when Airfix do an RAF Liberator based on their recent B-24 kit but before I do, what's it like to build, Kit, and is it as way off beam in accuracy terms as Revell's similar vintage Lancaster?

It was a LONG time ago that I built it Dave, early 70s I think, but it went together reasonably well.

Lots of rivets of course, and I had to sand most of them off or the Letraset dots wouldn't have stayed on properly. Squeezing the Spin-a-Prop motors into the nacelles was a bit of a squeeze, and the cowlings kept on falling off as there wasn't really enough glue area left on them to stay put, but I think I Araldited them eventually!

AFIAK it's a pretty accurate B-24D, but then it is American, and so were Revell at the time. But I recall some comments at the time about the nosewheel. I know that some B-24s had the wheel doors retracting inwards, but can't remember if that's applicable to this version.
