So this is my take on the Folland Wasp, the bigger brother to the Folland Gnat. I know of at least two other builds like this, which I believe were both almost straight from the box. I, of course, have to be that little bit different. Following the basic design of the Midge and Gnat, with the wing being situated above the engine intakes, I have decided to have a go at making this change to the model. The fact that Nick gave me an incomplete kit in the belief that it was a complete kit means I can practice the fuselage halves from that without too much of a worry of making a mess of things

Firt picture shows very roughly marked out areas on each fuselage for the tab on each wing to be moved to. Not very easy to see due to the plastic being a dark blue and the marker being black.

The next picture is dedicated to Bernard Cribbins. "There I was digging this 'ole"

Not a huge distance between the two mounting points, but it's about a scale foot higher.

And lastly, for now anyway, a picture of what one side should roughly look like when finished.

I used my ultrasonic knife to cut away the plastic, or rather, melt the plastic back onto itself after the knife passed through. A couple of passes made enough of a hole that a few strokes with a file finished the job. Liquicd Polly was used to glue the wing in place.

Interesting project   You could always build a "half aircraft" model from the single fuselage and mount it in a small picture frame ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Funny how radically a "small" change like that can alter a plane's appearance, even in that picture (and the accompanying image i'm forming in my mind...)
Perfect is the enemy of Finished. I presume. I've never achieved either.

Good point. I should try to find the stalled OOB build I was doing, so I can use it for comparison pictures.

Small update, as I have been distracted by other things. I sprayed the intake parts white, which came out well for a change and then fitted them. There is a gap on the right side, which I filled from behind with a section of plastic card. I will add a touch of white filler for the top and bottom, as getting the ends just right would have been a lot of hassle.

I intend to use masking tape to ensure that the distance for the new wing root on the left side is the same place on that half of the fuselage. Pictures later when I do this.
