Tell me what you think of this idea, folks.

Whiffing a Testor 1/72 scale SR-75 Penetrator into a GI JOE Sky Raven aircraft based on the old 1980's toy.
Actually, the Sky Raven is supposed to be more similar to an SR-71 Blackbird than the SR-75 Penetrator. But since I don't have an SR-71 kit, I thought maybe I could use the SR-75 instead and say it is a "more advanced" version of the older Sky Raven.
Of course, I'd like to try and paint the model a metallic/silver color just like the original toy has. Thankfully, Vallejo makes a spray can silver paint that should hopefully work ok.

Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

I'd not seen the penetrator before, that'll build up lovely in overall silver!
Perfect is the enemy of Finished. I presume. I've never achieved either.

Go for it.  Nice subject, clear Blackbird influence on both.

Not one I recognise, I had a lot of the UK equivalent 'Action Force' but I don't think the Sky Raven made the journey across the pond. A shame as I'd have loved it! Would have been great to pair it with my friends Sky Striker.

Nice idea.

Would you use maybe a 1/48 F-15 or similar cockpit section?
That would also get you two fins you could chop about, and other flying surfaces to modify things with.
Maybe even the start of the wing-mounted engine pods.

Here's some pics I found of an SR-75 that appears to have been painted silver. Though with my eyesight, it looks white instead.
Anyway, it doesn't appear to look too bad in that scheme.
Though the thing is, the GI JOE Sky Raven doesn't have black leading edges.
