I think you're dead right Lee, maybe another increase in fin height too?

The wing will be RADICALLY different as well, and that may make some changes to the tailplane a necessity as well.  ;)

Got the main fuselage assembled OK, sort of. One side is taller than the other, so there'll be a fair amount of filing and PSR to do, but that's not unusual here.

However that was just a temporary situation as I soon got the razor saw out and hacked the ends off it.  ;D  And then added some bits back on again....

That's the Eagle engine grafted onto the front end, with a fair amount of filing and PSR needed to fair it all in, but it's not too bad. The tail has been extended by 10 mm (a couple of feet in 1:1 scale...) to compensate for that monster nose. I may add some area to the fin as well, or borrow Lee's idea idea add a dorsal fin instead, there's no room for a ventral fin as it's still a tailwheel aeroplane.

Lots more styrene engineering to do yet, and PSR of course.

It's not quite as easy as I thought it would be Dave. :(

And the really radical bit isn't on there yet....................  ;)  ;D

I've got to go back to my old house this weekend for the stuff I'll need for that, so there may be a bit of a pause in the build.

Big dorsal fins tend to look awkward to me. Tall fins/rudders on the other hand ...

I like idea of the forward sweep, but no.  ;)

But I have heightened a fin a bit, as much as is practical anyway.

I've got the first coat of primer on the Super Monsoon, after numerous PSR sessions of course. Still needs a bit of PSR, but that's what the initial primer coat is for of course. It's looking pretty much as I intended, and the tail extension looks a lot better than Kurt Tank's job on the Ta-152! Mind you, the MB5 is pretty rectangular anyway.
