Hey, the kit's almost as old as me, it's allowed to be "gappy"!  ;D  ;)

Nice start on the Shinden!

Yes, the Accurate Armour 1/35 kit. Always been a grail kit and when they announced closure I got that and the Stalwart. Now its complete, time for somebody to release an injection job.

It is the reason for a lot of modelling distractions as I felt I need to get it done, rather than lanquish in a box for another 6 months or more. Lets just say, I am glad its over  ;)

That 3.7" looks very nice

I'd say it looks very bloody nice!  ;D

But I can see where a gazillion little, nay, tiny resin pieces may be exhaustion inducing.

So the 3.7" is now languishing in the paintshop queue. Back to the Shinden (and other stuff)

Without spending too long on getting everything 100% on a kit that really does not warrant the work, masking time

Fire up the airbrush and then remove the masks, that will do.

Underside, with a vague attempt at that weird bluey laquer business for interior surfaces. Not great but it will do. I know it could have been natural metal as well, for a late war aircraft, but...

Now the elephant in the room... the ex Contrail Short Sturgeon metal contra prop tips out my C of G. I have a fix for this that entails a hole, lead shot, some white glue, 24 hours and a magical "inspection plate"  ;D

Ok, with the exception of the two bloopers, the unpainted access panel (aka, where the weight went in) and the stand hole... we are done as far as build and paint to this stage. I will get the bloopers sorted as well before the end.

The kit decals were missing, although after 30 plus years decals of that era would be very dubious. After a rummage through all the decals I have in various boxes, books and folders apparently I have zero (pun ??) Japanese markings that are suitable for this size. Even the very old ESCI sheet/s of almost every other nation did not appear to have any. There are a few 1/48 but they are way too big.  Not going to buy an after market sheet either as they value of the sheet would triple or more the value of the kit.
I have a get together with some modelling colleagues coming up on the weekend, lets see what I can weasel out of them  ;D

Perfect is the enemy of Finished. I presume. I've never achieved either.

PR19_Kit

The contraprops and winglets improve that way above the 'standard' version.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

Looks good in basic Green.

Do you have any Large RAF roundels with separate Red inners?

I hope the engineers added a load of weight to the nose to compensate for the CG
shift caused by the contraprop gearbox and winglets. Pusher-prop tailless aircraft
already want to flip over backwards due to sensitivity in pitch. That critter would be
fun, to say the least.
