This may prove to be overly ambitious given the speed at which I build but what the heck, I'll give it a go! Both kits unstarted from the stash, here's the pics:

Both builds will be OOB

We think alike, almost. I looked out an AZ MB5 kit the other day, and something with swept wings too...............  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I've an MB5 plus what I think they call an MB6 rather than a Night Ferret.

Seeping up to the top of the pile, inspired by Wooksta's current builds.

The cunning plan is to give it an Eagle engine.

Make sure you put plenty of weight in the nose of that Shinden otherwise you'll have a tailsitter. ;)
That's what I had to do for my Shinden.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Funny you should say that Dave, I have similar ideas, but with some much more radical changes to the airframe too. (and I DON'T mean 'longer wings'.............. ;D )

I did an Eagle MB5 some years back, albeit with the Pegasus kit.  Might have another go.

😂

It'll be the MB6/Not-a-Night-Ferret boxing that'll get the engine change.  The MB5 will be RW OOB.

As the J7W2 is progressing reasonably well (famous last words), I decided to delve into the Skyferret box to see exactly what I'm dealing with.
The box contains fuselages for both the single seat and two seat aircraft along with some other bits and bobs. So the question arises of what to do with the single seater one? The J7W2 kit has the 6 bladed prop and spinner going spare, so I just need some wings, undercarriage etc. Thinking cap on!

Some progress on the Sea Ferret:

Whilst drilling the holes for the wing mounting pins on the Sea Ferret, I also took the opportunity to do the same with the wings that Kit sent me for the spare MB.5 fuselage

Must admit I admire people who can get pins/holes to line up first time. I tend to be miles off  :-\
