I think not having touched plastic for six months has messed with my modelling (over-)confidence because, for a relatively simple build, this one is really taking a long time to kick into gear!

And it hasn't been helped by the fact that, realising that this is going to go into a diorama, I need to include a crew - including the coxswain.

So I've been hunting through my figure sets for the parts to smash together into a Franken-cox to go into the pilot house.

I've also been working on mod's to the pilot house & the gun positions.

I hope to get three, maybe four builds done over the next few months ... At this rate I'll be lucky to get this one done!  :banghead:  :banghead:

This is the uniform I'm basing my RAN sailors' from - except with long trousers.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

No.

Plain khaki drill trousers tucked into gaiters (for the cox'n).

Not sure what I'm using for the legs of the gunners, so we'll see what happens there but they'll probably be khaki drill, although I may lean partially into the blue-grey of the No.8 work uniform I wore in the RAN in the 1980s.

How about some of the Italeri PT Crew figures? Though, come to think of it, they do have bell bottoms...

There are some Italeri modern carrier deck crew, if you need a cargo-style trouser.

No shorts belted just below the ribcage, kneesocks and knobby knees?
How tragic. Have you no regard for tradition?
🤣

But they're Young Combat Troops, not Pensioners...   ;D

That photo in Post #16 is from 1943/1944 - so it is traditional!  ;D

Meanwhile, on the modelling front, things are moving forward!

If I'm a good boy, & put some effort in, I should have the wheelhouse together by the time I go to bed.

Cox'n won't be finished, so I'll have to leave the lid loose for the time being.

After that, I'll move on to the gun positions &, hopefully, the gunners.

Photo's when there's enough worth showing.

Where I'm at;

Actually, I've added some dark brown wash to the wheel since the photo's. so it doesn't look quite as "clean".

Nice. Good choice on dirtying up the wheel what with it being grasped
by those grubby-handed sailors.
🤣

Nice to see movement forward with the Marines  LCM

I've a wonderful photo of my dad on shore leave in S Africa in 1944 in his "his" pucker" full whites, with shorts, and then another informal one of the ships company (he was on a sloop doing escort duty between India and East/South Africa at the time) in an amazing variety of uniforms, and that includes the officers and PO's  ;D

Uniforms or "pirate rig"?   ;)
