Well, I fibbed.

Some rather dull progress today, not worthy of pics.  A bit more filler in places, boxing-in the wheel wells and soring out the propellor spinner cap.

Pics once all that gets sorted out.  Honest.

I hope this one comes out well. I'd like to see what this finished project looks like. I suspect a large Bearcat!

Oops!  Yes progress has been made, mostly of the PSR kind.

I was tempted to fill in the deep panel lines on the wings but decided not to (the Hellcat is one of those Matchbox kits that's an odd mix of deep panel lines and finely raised panel lines).

Raised fuselage panel lines disappeared during PSR but I thought the contrast wouldn't be too great after a couple of coats of paint but I doubt it'll actually be the case.

Have decided scribing will be quicker than filling/sanding.

There's been no modelling for a couple of weeks due to other stuff, mostly recently the hot weather pushing up modelling room temperatures.

But the build isn't forgotten.

Finally!  Back to the modelling desk for some actual modelling for the first time in weeks.

With fuselage panel lines quickly scribed (definitely wouldn't win any detailing prizes with those) and u/c legs attached, it's time to slap on some paint.

Humbrol Oxford Blue base coat.  Nice colour, not quite dark enough for Glossy Sea Blue.  Fuselage subsequently given a coat of Humbrol gloss Midnight Blue.  Now you'd think that would be a tad darker than Oxford Blue, but it isn't.  Lovely colour but not right.  So I'm off to the LHS today or tomorrow to see what they've got to offer.

Meanwhile, this is what the build looks like at the moment, with canopy and prop placed in position to give an idea as to how it should look when done.

Looks very much like a Bearcat at first glance, but that's hardly surprising really.
