This is what we call a Box Art Build.

Shirley Shahan (nicknamed the "Drag-On Lady") is a pioneering American woman drag racer.  Shahan in 1965 became the first woman to win an NHRA pro event.  Her husband, H. L., prepared the cars she drove.  Shahan became a member of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and the Drag Racing Hall of Fame in 1997.

This release dates back to 1997 and in the intervening 28 years the transfers had yellowed.  Anticipating this, I had sometime in the past obtained a second sheet.  They had yellowed as well.  So I scanned them and printed my own on clear decal paper.  I got away with doing this because the underlying paintjob was white.  It wouldn't have worked n any other colour due to the colour density of the printed transfers.  The Purple edges to the wheel arches didn;t fit and needed touching up with paint.

It's built completely OOB other than adding plug wires and a resin aftermarket dizzie from www.thepartsbox.com.  Oh and resin carbies from the same source, and cutting a hole through the bonnet under the scoop.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

I know "B" all about cars, but I know a good model when I see one

Thanks Chris.

Super Stock was a drag racing class for "factory stock" cars.  So of course the factories started offering special options to make them "super".

And it's what I call OUTSTANDING!

What a super build Fred, and of a really great and memorable car too. That engine is wonderful, far better than any Hemi's I've done, and that's in double figures by now!

I'd nominate it for a Whiffie, but it's not one. :(

Chris, please can we have a 'Whiffie' class for RW builds too?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

To be honest I have no idea if it's a Wif or not I know that much about cars, but we have had honorary awards in the Wiffies for outstanding "real world" builds. PM Tom

Oh yes, so we did, I'd forgotten that and I've only just read the Whiffie Results too.  :banghead:

Most of the credit should go to Revell Monogram.  It's a very easy kit to build well.  Goes together beautifullly.
