I have a an old tobacco tin full of steel balls used for loading shot gun shells, from my Grandfathers estate. I drill a small hole, dump in some PVA, then start stuffing them in until on she sits right.

Sounds like you need a jig to hold it until the glue dries/cures all the way.
I wish I could find some of my kids old legos. I wouldn't need a lot. Just the old plain ones, not the expensive set today.

Check out your local LEGO store, they sell individual bricks by the cupful - literally.

Or your local op shop as there are often ones there, especially if there's been a Supermarket collectable set promotion, and folk have gotten rid of the stuff they don't want.

That's what I did to get my jig-building setup. Incredibly helpful. Worth checking back every now and then as well, since the selection changes all the time.

If you use lead weights, DO NOT stick them in with superglue/cyanoacrylate. It reacts with the lead over time and produces a compound which expands, thus forcing the nose of the model apart years after you built it.

The constellation is coming along! I don't have a picture of the weight I stuck in the fuselage, but here's a matching one- just imagine it painted black and sat in a cradle of milliput.

The first part of the wings is glued in to the fuselage now, and I've dry fitted the stabilisers to make it look as though I've made more progress than I actually have (you ought to read my end of shift emails...)

Frankly, every bit of assembling this kit has been characterised by poor fit, excessive flash, and vague mating of parts. It's a lot of fun, but it's type two fun!

Such a superb looking aeroplane. The pics remind me I have a Super Connie kit in The Loft somewhere. I really should get it out and fonding things to do with it.

Longer wings (B-29 work) and you will have the Starliner

I've looked at doing that, but there's a fair amount of work to make a proper Starliner out a Super Connie.

When I first picked this kit up I did a fair amount of searching around to see if I could find a starliner conversion kit to nab the wings from but to no avail. I'll idly dream of a short-fuselage constellation with starliner wings and dart engines until someone has the good grace to put out a starliner kit...
