This is as close to a RW build as I get.

My first 1/144 build since I dabbled with a Caravelle way back when.

Zvezda kit.  Painted with SMS lacquers and Alclad.  Cleared with Aqua Clear.  Transfers from the kit with the addition of a set of windows and glazing from Authentic-Airliner-Decals.de

I like to think this turned out OK which is lucky as I seem to have accquired a box full of 1/144 kits.  Mostly cargo planes but there is another Tu-134, a Tu-144, and a Batcat.

Hard to photograph.  Gloss white under LED lighting maybe?

Looks very pretty!    The Tu-134 was a very elegant design, it looks fast even when just standing around.

Nice one Fred, and interesting compared to your other 1/144 kit in that the Tu-134 is effectively the Russian equivalent of the Caravelle. 

Brings back awful memories of flying in one when working in Novosibirsk umpteen years ago. NOT my fave airliner by a long chalk!

That smell was/is a standard feature of ALL Soviet aircraft. It even lingers until today in the Tu-144 at the Technikmuseum Sinsheim...

Strategic application of remnants of old nylon workshirts into the fuselage of the second 134 (or the 144) could create a build with a realistic smell...

Darned if I can remember, it was THAT long ago, 1982 or thereabouts. It just seemed to go n for ever and I had my knees jammed into back of the seat in front the whole time.

I asked my sister about this.  She flew Aeroflot Moscow to Kiev and return as part of her language degree. This was nearly 50 years ago, but she tells me she can still remember with distaste the aroma of "the great unwashed" on both flights.  She and her compatriots were delighted to board a BA flight from Moscow back to Britain when the two month placement was over.

Irrelevant factoid.  She discovered that cheap Soviet vodka could be made almost   palatable by pouring a measure away, then adding  Kellogg's Rise and Shine orange or blackcurrant powder to the bottle and shaking it vigorously.

Not the cheap Vodka, but the Rise & Shine.  ISTR my mother giving us the orange flavour and it being nowhere near sweet enough for my childish palate.
