The one thing that photo does show to me is just how big a brute the Lansen was. Either that or there's a couple of 7 year old's sitting in the cockpit.

Not really any fundamental progress, but I've laid down a first layer of paint on the belly and the drop tanks. The first of quite a few, I would guess, given the grade of coverage..
The main progress with this might be that I tested an alternative demarcation line on the nose, but it didn't work as well as I originally thought. Good thing it's correctable.

Aaaand then I need to paint up some more missiles. Not my favourite thing to do. Mass production-esque. Hmmm...

There has been some fiddling with a backstory, but it'll take time. Writing, mulling and rewriting. And you need to be properly in the mood. But it's a good pastime to keep the mojo alive when you're not entirely up to actual building.

Having left the computer unattended for a bit, I returned this morning just to find that it had performed some automatic self-update sequence, and in the process kindly deleted the half-completed J32F backstory. Ah, well. The new version seems better, as it should, if you are a person learning from earlier experiences. Not saying I always do, but in this matter, it seems so, at least. Now, I intend to let it sit while I complete the model, and then we'll see how it has aged.

The model has gained an air scoop I had forgotten, so for all intents and purposes, it is nearing physical completion. Some more paint, then..

Agree... and the frequent use of the 'Ctrl+S' thing is always a Good Idea... not that I always remember either, but still...

My old PC recently also killed itself with an update. Was SO lucky that I make frequent backups/archives, even though I had losses, too (e.g. my whole archive with original/raw model photo shots!). I highly recommend some archive software or at least a cloud backup of anything, you NEVER know...

Given my normal rate of construction, going from this:

..in just over a month is all but earthshaking! But here we are, and just about ready for decals. Admittedly, there's yet an antenna to fit, plus loadout, obviously, but given the two-year project period so far with the old Drakens, it's not bad at all!
And I even might get some decals on this weekend. One never knows!

It's been a fun project so far, the target not to overdo any changes and keeping the main shape and feeling of the original Lansen interceptor. As stated earlier in the thread, I think it's my fourth attempt, but finally, it seems as if it's coming out reasonable.

Looks very elegant, and the subtle changes are great.
The grey Gripen-esque livery suits the Lansen well, too.

I have to agree with Dizzy ; she does look very elegant and that's not an adjective I'd normally associate with a Lansen.

Decals and varnish on today. Loadout will follow. It's been years and years since I completed a model in less than a month and-a-half. Strange feeling, that one. But a good one!
