During the Vietnam war, the US Navy's A-6 Intruder units were taking a pounding, and Grumman couldn't replace them quick enough. so the Navy turned to Britain and the Blackburn Buccaneer.

They purchased 2 Sqn's of Buccs as a stopgap until A-6 production caught up.  Named the A-8, the Buccaneer was loved by it's crew for it's low level abilities, and the punishment it could take, but they hated the "haphazard" design of the cockpit

She's a Bucc! Even a USN scheme & markings can't make her look bad!

Lovely job, mate!

Superb!     An excellent choice of aircraft for the USN,  magnificently modelled.

The Fleet Air Arm would disagree with the word "haphazard"  for the cockpit design as it implies a careless attitude.  They claim that every cockpit feature was deliberately and  precisely positioned so as to be in exactly the wrong place

Somewhere I have a USN Bucc too, but in the Blue Angels scheme.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Lovely! During the Gulf War, pilots said the only thing that could replace a Buccaneer was a Buccaneer with upgraded avionics. Might have been some nostalgia involved, but it's hard to beat that assessment.
