The SRN3 ended up being 'civil' for a time anyway. They used it on the Southsea-Ryde service for a while and I travelled on it. It was a BIG machine and very fast too.  :o

This is  becoming a most interesting  seminar  on hovercraft design .

No doubt in due course the civilian  industrial equivalent the BH9 Warrington and civilian passenger craft BH10 Windemere  will appear.

I just can't IMAGINE a civvie version of an LCAC!  :o

It has absolutely NO capacity for any pax at all as far as I can see, there's just two narrow doors in the 'shed' under the control cabin and one similar in the 'shed' on the port side.

One day I'm going to build my three SRN4 kits into a Super 4, like the one I worked on, but it's not an easy kit to build even OOB!

Hi,
I think that there is a passenger module for the LCAC.

Cooer, apparently it's called a 'Personnel Transport Module' according to the blurb at the end of the vid.

You learn something new every day, thanks. I can't actually see that as a civvie pax module though, it looks anything but 'luxurious'.  ;D

The LCACs are being replaced with the SSC (Ship to Shore Connector) LCAC 100 Class.
They're larger and powered by four of the same Rolls-Royce engines used on the V-22.

PR19_Kit

Now there's a co-incidence, the SSC's control cabin looks JUST like the one I've added to my BH8!  ;D

And I've never seen a pic of an SSC before.

What-If exists outside of time and space as a quantum phenomena.
;D

Note also how they've gone to two control cabins/bridges.

Exactly.  ;D

The twin control cabins makes sense having watched numerous vids of LCACs in operation, the spray pattern is HORRENDOUS and never predictable due to the direction they're moving and the wind.

On the SRN4s it wasn't such a problem as they were a lot larger and the cabin was maybe 4-5 times as high from the surface, just a long way to climb up! :(

Civvie one I was thinking about was Calmac car ferry between Gourock and Dunoon,  or similar.  Industrial machine moving Large lumps of "stuff"  from , say, Inverness deeper water dock  to the oil rig yard near Fort George

Funnily enough, I was thinking of doing an SRN4 as a CalMac machine, complete with the Skirt painted in the CalMac tartan colours  ;D

Pedantically, should we refer to the SKIRT  or the KILT?   Whichever, I'd very much like to see your  Calmac machine!

Hehehehe I can just imagine a tartan skirt on an SRN4.

If it was McCulloch tartan any Campbells wouldn't travel aboard it, and vice versa!  ;D

The tartan finder suggests the Royal Stuart Tartan as there is no suitable Tartan available.

In other news. As Scotland have reached the finals of the World Cup, Cal Mac have decided to put on ferry services to the U.S. for the Scotland supporters.

Ye could make the tartan whatever ye want as the "clan this-clan that" is all invented 19th century Sassenach blether.
