Quote from: Mossie on November 24, 2025, 06:07:09 AMRandomly, I worked out human hair is the correct scale thickness for rigging at 1/72 and curling cream should help tighten it up. Not weird or anything...

No, not at all  ;)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Quote from: Weaver on November 24, 2025, 02:18:54 AMThere's surprisingly few parts to them. This is the "scary" skeletal one:

That's remarkably like the late lamented Renwall Aeroskin kits, recently mentioned on here too IIRC.

Just to be clear, you don't HAVE to have it unskinned: the other boxings have pre-skinned wings.

Quote from: Weaver on November 23, 2025, 06:44:43 PMWell an RR Dart RDa.7 (Mk.520) is 2480mm long in real life, so in 1/72nd scale it'd be about 34.5mm.
Damn that is a small engine ,,far to small for my needs ,,so i did a wee bit of math myself and even in 48th it's still far to small ..it works out at 51.6mm long ,,to small for what i have in mind so i thought about 32nd scale  which might sound far to big for 48th but it becomes 77.5mm in 32nd which works out very well .. now if they did or would make these in 32nd i would hate to see what the price would be as there's one set they have and that's like 20 pd Sterling ..close to 60 notes NZ ,,i'd hate to think of a price for 32nd scale ones .
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Get someone to cut the engines off and just print those and the props to whatever size you desire... will need some sanding smooth, though...

PR19_Kit

The Herald's Dart installation was a bit strange as it had quite large bulged intakes on the inboard side of both nacelles, which only appear on the Herald.

All other Dart installations are much more 'tubular' in look, so you'd either need to saw off the bulge after printing or modify the file so it wasn't printed at the time. I've zero knowledge if that's possible though.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

That middle section looks like there's a pair of 40's/50's turbojets attached. Instant whif?

I've been looking at the 1/72nd scale HS 748 Darts and wondering if you could graft one onto the nose of a P-51 to make a Cavalier Turbo-Mustang. This may not be unrelated to the fact that I picked up a Cavalier Piston-Mustang conversion (i.e. fin+tip tanks) from Blackbird at Telford.

I was thinking the R R Darts might conceivably ( as better detailed substitutes) fit the Airfix F-27 (of which  I have two) instead of the Italeri kit (of which I have none)

The Dart was what they used, so yes - though finding one will be the trick; IIRC Fred mentioned there was a conversion available - Red Roo maybe?

Yes.  Red Roo Models produced a resin Dartstang conversion based on an Academy kit.  They must have sold out as they don't list it anymore on their website.
You might be able to find one somewhere else.
I have built one and have another in the stash.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

Well my point was that you could kitbash it using one of the Dart nacelles from Laci.

Sorry. Yes I did. Poor choice of words on my part.  I have now updated my earlier post. ;D
