Captain Canada

Now that is cool ! Great job on the build. The additions plus your skills have really brough this to life ! The weathering looks superb. So it has water jets in the foils when they are deployed ?

I think that's right, yes. In the bulges at the bottom of the aft foils, but it would work if the waterjet just squirted out of the transom all the time too.

I just checked, and there's a good vid of the Tucumcari and the Flagstaff 'flying' over Puget Sound I presume, as they're both Boeing boats here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAn-LSCOxYo

And a still snitched from that shows that the water jets were in the foils as only the turbine exhaust comes out of the transom.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

If there's something that screams "This needs to be 1/35" it's military hydrofoils

Also, I think the Avenger turret from the the TWQ-1 Avenger SHORAD might make a useful modernization  for the aft battery.

If they did do that, I'd be spending a lot of time (and money I suspect...) making it 'fly' for real. with some RC assistance of course.

While there are models, and even kits, of RC hydrofoils, they're all of the surface piercing type which are much easier to operate properly as they don't need computer controlled foils. They're also all prop-driven with VERY long shafts too!

The Tucumcari has fully submerged foils, a whole different kettle of fish of course. :(

I need to digout my kit.

The bulges are the water intakes when foilborne. The waterjet exhaust when hullborne is in the transom below the turbine exhaust, when foilborne the water jet exhausts through nozzles on the bottom of hull.

It wouldn't necessarily even have to be particularly large.
Boeing Little Squirt.

The Tamiya PBR could be a candidate.

Kit you'll probably find this of interest, from retired Boeing engineer Bob Bogash about his three years in Hawai'i supporting the commercial jetfoil operations.
He goes into detail about why it didn't work out.
Jetfoil in Hawai'i

The first program Bob worked on as a freshly minted engineer was the 737. He worked directly on the prototype and has been associated with it ever since.

Why doesn't it say that anywhere where I can find it? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Dead right Jon, that's fascinating and I've saved it away on disc. He goes into some length on the Jetfoil's pitch performance in rough seas, but doesn't mention the 'tilt' performance, which I found equally interesting of course and very well done on my tip to Ostend and back.

Here ya go Kit.  ;)
Hullborne propulsion on Tucumcari was with a separate standard waterjet powered by a Detroit 6V53.
