Seconded! I had an Italeri 1/72 scale X-32 long ago. But decided not to build it and instead put it in my local model club's auction hoping some other sucker would bid on it and build it.    If I had kept it, I would have painted it in a black and white scheme similar to what orca whales have since the X-32 was nicknamed "Shamu" or "the Whale" I think?

A stealthy A-7 Corsair II.
That prototype was definitely one fugly aircraft.

Despite it's aesthetic failings, the XF-32 does have some plausible wiffery. I did one a few years ago, and got earache for calling it the SKYHAWKIII.

I LOVE these things! C'mon guys, who wouldn't want to come to work every day to be greeted by a plane that's as pleased to see you as your big, daft, grinning dog? 



I used to frequent a website, the denizens of which called themselves "Penguiners* ", and I had it in mind to build one of these, paint it black and white, and have it being flown by a penguin. Got the model, got the penguin, then the website folded...



*The name came from the story about penguins in the Falklands War being so fascinated by aircraft flying over them that they'd topple over backwards trying to watch them. The members decided that any creature willing to fall on it's backside to rubberneck military hardware was their soul animal...

When the RAF's Best Air Traffic Controller did a tour down at Mt Pleasant I asked her to check if they really did do that, and they DO! 

As the aircraft is on approach the penguins turn to face them as they can hear them coming of course, and maybe not quite figuring out how those massive things really CAN fly when they can't, they continue to track them as they pass o'head with predictable results.

A few years ago one of the IPMS Junior members built a superb, and prize winning, diorama of such a scene in 1/144 scale, it was MAGNIFICENT!

The F-35 isn't exactly pretty. At least the X/F-32 looks interesting

What's amusing is that due to shape errors the Italeri kit came out looking even goofier than the actual aircraft.
