1944 US Forest Service report on UK use of wood for aircraft

Typical report by professionals, just the facts, no opinions as to which country's approach
was better. They just note minor differences and stress cooperative research being of
primary importance. Interesting info and some great little tidbits like wood covered
wings showing waves and "oil-canning" in the morning after sitting out all night in the
rain, fog and just generally damp conditions. Most of which would disappear after a few
hours in the sun. The centre and fwd. fuselage skins of Oxfords actually being wrinkled
in the morning and flattening out as the day wore on.

Interesting stuff that covers a wide variety of subjects, methods of fabrication, glues, finishes etc.
