I remembered that I had done an upgrade M60 a few years ago, it is sat on the shelf gathering dust. I used a Merkava turret on mine. Mine is 1/72 scale also.

That looks almost done. C'mon, finish it!

it is finished, has been for well over 12 years now thinking about it. The turret went straight on too.

OK, I think this is how I want the side skirts to look. All I need to do is clean up the back end/straighten out the area by the drive sprocket, clean up the rough edges, duplicate the piece, add the extra details, mount and paint it.

Thats looking good Tom ,,if ya want to give it a even more modern look ,round off the bottom edges of the side skirts ,,not a huge amount but it will give a smoother appearance.
Since you've made paper templates you can make a new one and compare em

Well, the sideskirts have been....unsatisfactory. The first piece turned out great, the second piece I carved out had some shape issues that sanding just made worse.

I realized the sideskirt was a basic flat shape, so I just picked up the easiest 3D design program I could get my hands on (TinkerCAD) and started designing a new piece that I could duplicate and flip. Plus, I could build the mounting surfaces directly into the design so it'll mount perfectly on both sides. Wish me luck!

PS Wardukw That's a thought. I'll sand the edges a little.

Ahhhhh the curse of the twins
Mate we've all been there and will again ,,had it happen with my M6 HST ,,don't know why either so i just call it the curse of the twins  ;D

Rounding off the bottom edges even a samll amount works sweet bud ,,so nothing drastic there needed .

I find it helps to point out to myself when it's not possible to see both sides at the same time.   ;D

So true.
And nothing is ever exactly the same from right to left anyway.

OK, we have a slowdown with the build as I work through various iterations of the sideskirt. I have a rudimentary Toybox 3D printer, which won't print at the resolution I need, but will at least get me the prototype sized to where I want it before I get a final print done. A few more adjustments need to be made.

Well, I've sent some files to my local library to have those side skirts painted, but we had a snowstorm yesterday, so nobody was in to print it for me. In the meantime, I bought a second-hand 4K resin printer on Friday, but it's missing the knobs to secure the resin tank to the printer (replacements ordered). However there'll be a bit of a learning curve so I'll hold off on that for now. So to keep things moving I went ahead and painted the tank, and I could still leave the skirts off if desired. But here it is, ready for a gloss coat and weathering:

That looks excellent! The skirts will work out, I have no doubt.
