I am wanting to build a navalised typhoon in 72nd scale, and was about to do so with the revell kit I have but remembered it has no weapons or pylons with it. The kit has no instructions either, and is the two seater version. Is the revell kit worth having if I was to look for another, as I think one version had a lot of stores with it, or is there a better alternative. Cheers.

Instructions can be found HERE, or you can choose the correct version if this one is wrong, from the timeline on the same page. Weapons can be found in the Hasegawa European Weapons set with pylons from Air-Graphics

Revell has done a whole bunch of Typhoons. Kit 04338 is the most recent two-seater. It has 4x Meteor, 4x Amraam, 2x Sidewinder. The 04317 single-seater has more: 4x Meteor, 4x Amraam, 2x Sidewinder, IRIS-T, Taurus, Stormshadow, ASRAAM. There's a later single-seater kit 03952 that has most of the weapons from 04317, it seems except for the ASRAAMs.

The version with the storm shadows in will be perfect, as I will be arming it with a pair of those, fuel tanks and some. AAM's. Cheers Alastair, for the heads up, I think finding a kit with everything in will be the way forward, as it should, in theory cost a bit less.

The sea typhoon will be serving along side another aircraft that will. Be fleet air arm, on my wiff HMS colossus carrier, a joint project with both Canada and Japan, with some help from the US Navy. The aircraft will be what if the UK, Canada and Japan are not convinced that the F35 will do what it says on the tin, so join together to build a ship borne fighter, suitable for their needs. I just need to decal and matt clear coat it  ;)

You might have problems with the chin air intake assembly and cockpit canopy glazing not fitting correctly.

Thanks for the heads up. I have managed to bag the 04317 kit, which is a single seater, the 2 seater could yet be used as a fleet air arm bird yet, maybe as a dedicated electronic warfare version.

There is some talk of the Elizabeth class carriers being modified into conventional carriers, so a Naval Typhoon looks like a nice idea.

They could do that, while knocking a big dent in the UK's defence budget of course. The two ships were built with the strong points for the catapults and arrestor gear already in place.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I do realise that. All the interesting projects usually get cut due to a lack of budget.

They kept on changing their minds about which version of the F-35 to buy, and that lead to the constant change of spec of the ship. Budgetary madness.  :banghead:

My what if HMS Collosus will be nuclear powered, and considerably larger than the current carriers the navy have. Canadian versions will be stationed in the Pacific, to keep their eye on China and North Korea.
