Man, my workbench is starting to overflow with partial completed kits, I really need to get round to finishing some off!

We've got

F-20A, nearly finished, just need to give it one more big push and she'll be done soon (hopefully)

F-20G - fuselage assembled, awaiting wings

Mirage 2000 - assembly complete, 2 rounds of filling and sanding down, at least 2 more to go...

A380 - making slow but steady progress until the other day when I dropped her  :dum:  :dum: undercarriage broke off, underside of fuselage cracked open  :(  She's retrievable, but right now I haven't the heart to get stuck back in

F-16 - bought to show the size of the A380, she's been sat in that complete, waiting to be sanded & filled stage since Christmas

Seafire - need to get round to sanding the filler.  Another one I can complete with a solid week or twos effort.

Ki-43.  Once I get the cockpit painted and assembled she should fly together.

I just need to focus on 1 or 2 models for a couple of weeks to get them out the way.  But then the Revell Hunter will come out and my XF-108 will arrive and I'll spend too much time on the internet...

And here's the long term part started kits.  That halftrack flakvierling goes back to when I lived in Australia!!!

8 years ago!!!!!  :dum:

One day, one day I will build her in a diorama with her all shot up and stuff with advancing allied troops going past  :tank:

As for that Skyray, she's been so close to being finished for I don't know how long.  I keep meaning to get her done....

I know your pain buddy.

On my bench, I have :

B-25, painted, a few touch-ups left to do then it's Future time.

V-22, ready to be painted.

CH-166 in the painting process.

Firefly I with those "$"%"%$ PE parts that keep falling off.

And me big Trump Spit, on which I'm currently working on.

Oh yes, Tamiya Meteor with the Yellow and Black underside, which I need to mask and paint MSG...

And a Yak 9...

:(

The trick is to try not to start anything new until you've finished something.  Yes, I know that is very close to being impossible, but just making the effort will help.

Also, don't take this kind of advice from someone with the same problem.

I have:

1/350 PL Enterprise that's sitting there waiting for me to decide to get $50 worth of bright white and blue LED's.  Will continue to orbit in limbo for some undisclosed time period, because it will also need a bare-metal finish.

1/32 F-105F (from the Trumpeter F-105G kit).

1/48 USMC Spitfire MkII (first of 2).

1/72 F-4U Corsair for a top secret diorama experiment.

Of course, this is only the tip of the iceberg.  I don't think I'd dare list all the other projects I want to do this year.

Well, I've only got the onekit on my bench waiting, and that my first SU47. She has, however, been at the painting stage for the last couple of weeks now, and I really need to get her completed. I should've been opening up the weapons bay on this one, but I forgot to and stuck the bits together, so I had to buy another one so, I'll do it on the next one.

LOCTITE 406, Ollie !

And I've got too many on the go to list......ships, subs, carriers, trucks, tanks, jets, props, 1/35, 1/48, 1/72, 1/144, 1/350.........

I think this is as close to heresy as you can get round here, and possibly banned.

I feel better now finally painted the Skyraider I started in October

Will put those last finishing touches/decals on the A37 soon.

And last weekend had one of those ying-yang moments, after three months I got the Barracuda and the FAA Hellcat painted, really proud of the tatty look I got with the camo and the faded D-Day stripes. Took a cocktail stick scratched up the paint great weathering just like the pictures, then I noticed that the engine cowling on the Hellcat was upside down DOH! Looks kinda intriguing with a sky upper and a slate grey lower.

Telling you the weekend build is the cure to the overcrowded bench doldrums.

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Now we all know you are superhuman Lee, thanks for reminding us about it!

;)

Toad, I'm using cyano glue from the autopart, which is exactly like Loctite, eh!

I need more activator, so I'll drop by tomorrow to get some.

;)

Ollie

That's all true, but I'm in no hurry to race through my hobby you know.

It is supposed to take time to do!

I totally agree on all counts regarding the multiple projects issue, and guilty as charged.

However, at the risk of heracy here, the bestest therapy is finishing a kit, not starting it. When you get one done and take her to the meeting to show the lads, or your kids, and if you are fortunate enough to have a signficant other who cares, their feedback is electrifying and get's you back on the bench cranking out again.

For me, personally, that very sense of gratification comes almost exclusively from you guys...aw, group-hug

I used to get upset with myself about having a dozen kits on the go at any one time.  It can feel like nothing ever gets done.  I've gradually come to accept that multiple projects on the go is just another sign of the luxury of a lifestyle that permits me such a diverse hobby.  And some new piece of learning always seems to pop up at just the right time that seems tailor-made for one or two of the projects on the go.

But, if at all possible, I'm pulling a "Leigh" ---- my first weekend build starting Friday (my day off and no Emergency Response Team pager anymore).  It will be a Matchbox for simplicity and sheer enjoyment and it's a subject I've always loved but surprisingly have never modeled before.

Pics will be coming (I hope).

QuoteThe whole point of production line modelling is that you're not wasting any time whilst something is setting/curing/drying.  Whilst a coat of filler on one model is setting, sand another.  Spraying three models is just as easy as spraying one and you don't have to clean out the airbrush as often (pain in the arse that it is).  Yeah, you have a lot unfinished, but more finished when you do actually finish them!
a lot easier when you don't have

1)  A wife

2)  Children (especially under-1s that need near constant attention!)

:D

I just get frustrated when I don't finish stuff - is part of the reason for my recent 72nd conversion

So what will happen with da huge Spit, eh?

Mine's got her wings cut...  Next is to paint bits in the cockpit and we'll be soon ready to start the mating of the major parts...

nev

Oh, she'll get built.....eventually!

Hey, since you sent me Bob Standord Tucks markings I can't not build her!
