They're £16 at Hobbycraft in the UK, about 60% of the price of some on ebay!

Sadly, postage will be the killer for that deal... thanks anyway.
My Enabler sells out of his garage, so no overheads - he's usually about 60% or so of retail prices over here, and these days that's a Good Deal.

I've been looking at the position of the PT6s, bearing in mind the CG position, but it turns out the PT6 weighs only 100 lbs less than the original Gypsy Queen, less than a hefty passenger sitting in the wrong seat, so I think I'll leave them where they fit best, right up against the Gypsy Queen's bulkhead.

If I'd mounted them further forward, which is possible by using some of the Twotter's wing cowling, the props would be exactly alongside the flight crew, maybe not such a good idea. :(

Yeah, it's much better to have the props alongside some passenger, in case a blade flies away to slice someone.... ;D
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Hehehehe, of course!  ;D

In actuality the Sealand model has a socking great fuel tank in the centre of the cabin, and the only seats are right aft, so any broken prop blade would only slice a hole in the tank...............................,er, right. :(

Better AVTUR than AVGAS in that situation, hey, Kit?

Hell yes, another advantage of having PT6s, never mind the extra 450 bhp.  ;)

The 3-bladed Hartzell props used
on the Twotter weigh between 120 and 130 lbs each, depending on exact model.

Engine weight can be misleading when doing swaps as published weights often don't include the propeller and other engine systems weights.

But the Gypsy Queens props won't have been weightless will they?

I've got the first PT6 installed on the Sealand's wing and I think it looks pretty good. It's only had one session of PSR and it's not been primed yet, but the shape sits nicely on there and it's just the sort of thing Shorts would have done had the Sealand carried on in production. After all, they fitted similar sized turboprops to the Skyvan, albeit Garretts,  only 13 yrs later.

I do wish the manufacturers would find a better method of making props rotate!  :banghead:

They all have those tiny circular washers that you're meant to glue over the prop shafts once they're threaded through the cowling, and the prop almost ALWAYS ends up being glued solid!

That's just what's happened with both props on the Super Sealand. The blades are then very liable to get snapped off, so I'll have to cut the props off and devise a Dizzy type solution, adding an extra prop shaft so they spin properly.

I changed the name, and the thread title to match its new engines.  ;D
