Hehehehe, no, but we 'annexed' RAF Tain, on the north side of the Moray Firth and built lots of hangars, flight sheds, terminals and offices there. One of our members did a wonderful scenery package for the place and I still use it for FS flying as I never have any problems with 'conflicting traffic' when flying in multi-player mode.  ;D



Here it is, looking south across the Moray, with the big hangar complex in the foreground, the terminal and domestic site to the south and my SpecOps site over to the east.

The SpecOps Division is where I got my email address from of course.  ;)

You can go and check it out while you're up in Inverness, it's only 20 miles away.  ;D

Goodness, that's a REALLY vintage kit, and maybe worth a fortune now! I built one of those too, just after seeing the real one at Farnborough.

The Sealand fuselage is glued together now, but it wasn't the usual simple job with most IM kits. The lovely resin mouldings have NO location pins/ sockets at all, so you just have to align the bits properly, and with gel superglue you don't have all that much time either.

I taped it up to ensure it stayed in place and it's worked pretty well. They don't quite match at the nose, but it's just a fraction of a millimetre, and I did a small bit of PSR which seems to have  sorted it. Luckily you can still see the big tank in the middle of the cabin and the two seats in the rear as well.



Not sure what to do yet as I really need to decide on the engine choice, stock 1950s Gypsy Queens or some 2000 turbo-props?

The Sealand was designed to be shipped in bits, with separate power units, so a
turboprop conversion would be very believable from a construction standpoint.
(Of course, the image will probably not show right away).

Make up some scale crates using the listed dimensions, stack'em up, add a guy with a clipboard, a couple of longshoremen and a customs agent and say it's a diorama of a Sealand.

I'm loitering next to 'MY' Canberra, XH131, there, and you can just see my checque book in my pocket................  :o

The Seland's got its Whiffed engines at last.  ;D

I picked up a Revell Twin Otter kit y'day, that's the old M'box kit, and the PT6s look as if they'll be an almost perfect fit for the Sealand.



The Twotter kit is VERY useful as it has all sorts of extra bits included (Yeah, there's a thread for that somewhere, isn't there?) as it has two noses, a lovely set of floats and a set of SKIS even, not to mention those lovely Canadian decals.



I even used the wings off a Twotter as the tailplane on my Rotocrane of a few years ago!  ;D

Of course it's all moulded in a rather dull pale grey these days, not like the uber colourful sprues in its M'box time!

I've already built up one engine to see if it'll fit, and as you can see, it looks like it'll work really well.



I must admit that the exhausts don't look like any PT6 exhausts that I've ever seen before, they usually look like two socking great pipes bent through 90 degs as soon as they're clear of the cowling, but for some reason Twotter PT6s are different.

Nothing a corner of kit runner can't fix... having done just that, myself...

That looks like it'd be a very useful kit, if:

1. it was available here, *at a reasonable price*

and

2. I hadn't already used other options...

Though thinking on it a bit more, I feel shall have to see my local facilitator/enabler... just for arguments' sake, you understand... ;)
