Step 54/140  Keel completed

It may only look like a simple keel plate, but this is actually the last one. That means the keel and the entire underwater hull are now finished.

I expect the missing hull sections will be added next, and after that we should finally get into some more interesting construction work. To be honest, all those keel and hull plates were a bit repetitive, so I'm looking forward to seeing the ship really start to take shape.

Well, its not my fault, the last weeks you only had hull parts after hull parts. I would think that there are another 4-6 weeks until some other things will be delivered.

We are not blaming you mate, indeed the oposite, we are admiring your perseverence

Step 55/140  The eighth Ju 87 and more  shaft bossings

The next Ju 87 dive bomber has been assembled and added to the air wing. I may still need to equip it with a centerline 250 kg bomb, as it currently carries only four 50 kg bombs mounted beneath the wings.

In addition, the final two shaft fairings for the inner propellers have now been installed, bringing this part of the construction to completion.

There was a delay this time as the next package from Hachette arrived one week later then expected.

Step 56/140  Stern Hull Section

It looks like the remaining hull sections will be assembled from the stern forward. This section was straightforward to attach using four screws, and with it in place, the stern is finally starting to take shape.

Step 57/140  Starboard hull part

As expected, another hull section. I have to admit, I am really glad this part of the build will be finished soon — tightening all those tiny Allen screws is not exactly the most enjoyable task.

This time I actually had one screw that I could not tighten at all, no matter what I tried. Fortunately, it is located in an area with plenty of other screws around it, so the hull section should still be held securely. Hopefully this can be fixed later.

Step 58/140 – Port Stern Section

The next hull section has now been installed on the port side at the stern. I have to admit, I'll be glad when the hull assembly is finally complete—tightening the screws in these cramped spaces at the stern is quite a challenge. Fortunately, only two hull sections remain before this part of the build is finished.

For those, who started with the Graf Zeppelin subscription kit when it was started, the final parts arrived these days.  For me, its still 80 weeks to go.

That's looking most impressive, I'm pleased you've carried on with it.

Would be stupid to stop it now, as it was much too expensive so far. Ok, I should not think about the price. If i would smoke cigarettes, it costs me one and a half box each week.

But it's far more fun than smoking, and won't kill you in the end (although when the Missus totals up the sum spent... ;) )

And with the price of ciggies these days, it's still a lot cheaper...

Step 59/140 – Starboard hull completion

The starboard hull is now finished. With the next upcoming hull section in place, the project should finally move on to the more exciting phases of the build.
