What modelling projects do you think you'll never build or see?

If Warner Brothers could licence someone to provide 1/72 scale model of Hogwarts Castle and Diagon Alley plus the characters at a reasonable price.
Maybe Hornby could produce the Hogwarts Express in the correct livery and colour,  Bachmann does one but the carriages are the wrong colour.

It's not a whif, but I'd really love it if some model manufacturer would come out with a plastic model kit of the 1948 Tucker Torpedo automobile.
Only about 50 actual real cars were ever made.
This would be like one of the holy grails of automotive modeling.
But I doubt I'll ever see a kit come out in my lifetime or be able to build one. :(
I know there's a resin kit that came out long ago, but I'm not interested in that.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Weaver, re the Beatles Submarine, there are these:

One of which seems to be crossed with the Nautilus, so covering both genres.

I'd like to see a few more BMC or Leyland cars in plastic. You can buy the die-cast models and there's a few resin bodyshells available

I don't think I'll ever see an Avro Manchester or, Avro Lincoln

One of us built a Manchester on here just a short while ago I'm sure, but it was called something else mind you.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Old Wombat

That would be my Avro Winchester - which is not a Manchester, as it's a cut-down Lancaster with Napier Sabre engines.  ;D  ;D  ;D

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

I think that Blackbird Models do the Lincoln and Manchester conversion sets, Sanger still does the Lincoln and there's a vacform Manchester conversion as well which is often seen on eBay.

Thanks for looking Jon.

If you come down the ramp off the ferry at the speed that pose implies, it's going to be a short TT for you and your last TT... :o

The tiny size of the bikes in 1/144th, about 10mm overall and ~4-5mm or so in height, is likely the main reason. A 3D print would require a very high-definition resin printer. The riders and kit would have to be part of the bike, but it'd probably all have to be a simplified and generic bike. The prints would be extremely fragile. Plus the 3D model would have to be designed, support and slicing determined before printing  etc.

Oh I get it, but the fact remains that there are some 1/148th bikes around, in both injection plastic and die-cast metal, so it can be done, if the market's there.

The one in the pic shows some signs of "wargames scale": the tires are hugely wide and flat-section, which would handle horribly, and the front forks look fit to be suspension units from an HGV!

The more I think about it, the more unlikely it is that suitable models will ever be made for that diorama. There'd be a wide variety of bikes (classics, customs, scooters, sports bikes, tourers and adventure bikes at least), a wide variety of riding gear, half of them would have pillions and almost all of them would have luggage of many different kinds. Some would be stopped (feet down, hands off the bars), and some would be crawling slowly (feet up, hands on the bars). You'd need at least two poses for each style of bike's rider, standing figures, half a dozen variations of bikes, and accessories to "sell" the scene.
