Too bad, the Reban engineers made an error. After adding the engines, stage 2 and 3 do not fit together....  :banghead:

So there are two choices right now: Reconstruct the second stage so that both stages fit together. Or construct a small adapter ring so that the engines of stage 3 do not collide with the tank of stage 2 anymore.

I guess I go for the second one, this is more Reban style....

Error or not, it's looking good

As a punishment the engineer responsible could be made to give up one of his daytime snacks ? Or would that lead to the "Great Reban Revolution" ?  ;)  ;D

Oh yes, adaptor rings are all part of interplanetary travel! How many does a Saturn V have? About 3 or 4!

Rumors say that a new cafeteria had been opened in the construction office and the Reban engineers were a bit distracted when designing stage 2 and 3....

Lemme guess: the teams working on stages 2 and 3 were in different aerospace companies on different continents with different cultures and each of them used their "normal" system of units, which unfortunately were, y'know, different...

Precisely - thank you.

The new cafeteria is a potential cause. Perhaps a Reban engineer, grabbing food on their way back to work, accidentally spilled something on their design sheets. This could have smudged the measurements, leading to the stages being produced in the wrong size.

A perfectly logical explanation, yes.  ;)

Either that or the waitress was exceptionally well....you know   ;)

I now printed the adapter ring which is quite fragile:

Still unpainted, but a test shows that it works:

In the meantime, I continue to paint the second version of the lander / crew module on the right side.

Can I ask a simple question ? I'm just wondering how long it takes to print some of these parts as I've no idea.

It depends on the type of printer: Resin or FDM. In this case, it's a resin printer, and the printing time mainly depends only on the object's height.

A resin printer works like this: There's a tank filled with liquid resin. A build plate comes down from the top, very close to the transparent bottom of the tank (about 0.03 mm). Below this bottom is a UV light source, like a tablet screen, which projects an image of the layer. Wherever the light shines, the resin hardens and sticks to the build plate. After a few seconds, the plate lifts slightly and lowers again, allowing the next thin layer to be cured. This process repeats until the full object is built.

Because each layer takes the same exposure time, the width or size of the object doesn't affect print duration—only the number of layers (the height) matters. For example, those adapter rings took a little over an hour to print.

In contrast, an FDM printer melts plastic filament and lays it down line by line. Here, the overall size and surface area of the object strongly affect print time, since the printer must physically "draw" every part with melted plastic.

There will be two options for the Reban Moon Rocket:

The smaller Indawo-17 which made the first flight around the moon Bobo and was the test flight for the final moon landing. This version of the rocket did not had the service module in it.

The bigger Indawo-18 which did the actual landing on Bobo in 2009 our time. This one will have the additional service module in it.

The smaller one is almost completed and now looks like this:

As I do not know if I wil lbe able to complete it until my vacation, here are a few teasers of it. I was really surprised what is actually possible today:
