Back at the workbench after some weeks of teleportation in Real-World. Used the time to consider some aspects of the build, and decided to follow Pellsons advice. So now the AS 35XD has reverted to a more normal fin. I've started on the paint job. The plane will get the SM67 blank (Standard Paint 67 Gloss) - with a twist  ;)

My build is meant to represent a SF-35 from the Karup AB based ESK 724 on detachment to Trømsø, Norway, as part of the february 1986 NATO winter exercise "Anchor Express".

In my whif-world the SF-35s were based alongside the Harriers of No. 1 Sqdn RAF, and the ESK 724 was inspired by their white distemper winter camouflage, and followed suit.

In real-world the Flyvevåbnet never used white distemper on its planes, as the danish winters are more grey than white.

Certainly suits that scheme
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Don't worry. It will be armed, as soon as I get the time to finish the build. These days my eldest daughter and one of her girls are visiting me. But the eight hardpoints are ready to receive the payload.

I like what I see!  It really makes a differnce with the snow camo. Good choice!

Is that canopy the original Revell kit canopy or something sourced? It looks a bit like the later, bulged canopy of the J35F/J or F/RF/TF-35's?
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

The canopy is one, that became redundant after a TF-35 conversion. The original Revell Draken canopy went AWOL a long time ago.

Finished - at last

At last the conversion of the old Revell J-35 Draken is done. So let me present:

The AS 35XD Draken in service with the RDAF as:
A SF-35 based at Karup Air Base but on detachment to Trømsø, Norway in february 1986, as part of the NATO Winter Exercise "Anchor Express 86"
