What to do with a frog Gannet

I have a few of the old frog gannets that I bought for the engines and wings, so I have a few spare fuselages etc in need of a good wiffing. My idea being, stick an engine and prop from a Shackleton on the front to replace the double mamba, and modify the 3rd crew space, and put a gun turret in. I could convert the tail to twin tails, so as to give the turret guns a better arc of fire. It's purpose, I was thinking would be a torpedo bomber, all be it quite a slow one. Wing mounted rockets and cannon could be fitted too. I am thinking designed and built too late to serve during ww2, so it could have a secondary role in maritime patrol.

It could be a British Skyraider.

Sounds like a winner to me Chris. Of course you'll have to scratch up a cockpit as that kits just has half a pilot sticking out of a flat deck!  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

Biplane, twin-fuselage, push-pull, gyrocopter, X-wing.

A floatplane would be appropriate for a Gannet!
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Ah yes, I remember that now, a bit of knife and file work, and a basic cockpit should do, as it will be painted black anyway. Thinking inside the box a tad, would the griffon be powerful enough for it to carry a sizeable load?

I just want to use bits I have, and make it borderline plausible as an in service RAF or FAA aircraft.

The Gannet and Skyraider are not all that different in virtues. Wikipedia says it had only a 2000 lb load capacity but that may have more to do with the bomb bay capacity. Wing pylons may have changed that. A Gannet in camo and the whole kitchen sink under the wings might be a head turner. Food for thought for future projects.

It might be a tad short on power, the Griffon had around 2500 bhp and the Double Mamba 3500-4000 bhp. But the Gannet could cruise with only half of the Double Mamba running. Maybe JATO bottles to help its take -off?

If you have a pair of Shackleton engines stick them on the wings and put a nosecone on the front.
Something like a COIN with a large gun.

I have some spare from  wyvern in my bits boxes, so they could well be used on this.

Given Gannets look like they fell out of the ugly tree, make it a Blackburn...

 ;)

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

They made their own, the B88. It was even uglier than a Gannet, if that's possible of course.

That's the B-54, packing a Griffon, which answers Chris's question. Blackburn flew it with a piston engine before the Double Mamba (B-88) was ready.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
