After visiting the IPMS Modelshow in Moorsele earlier today, i took a visit to the FAS (Flanders Aviation Society) museum in Wevelgem, which is only a 20 minute walk from the show. its not always open for the public, but with the IMPS show they decided to organise an openday (with a Rolls Royce Derwent engine from an ex-Belgian AF Gloster Meteor F8 on display outside the shows doors).

ive been looking to visit this place for a while now, and i have to say it was well worth the trip.
from the moment you enter, you can feel the history of the airfield overwealm you. the museum is housed inside a former-Luftwaffe bunker underneath the controltower. the museum is filled with wrecks and wrellics from both world wars, from the fabric covers from downd Fokker DR.1's to engines and parts from British and German WW2 aircraft, but also parts from more modern aircraft such as the F-16, Fouga Magister, and even a small piece of the infamous "Zombie" MiG-23 Flogger that crashed here in 1989.

the museum is run by volunteers and they are all to happy to show you around.
im definatly going back here when i get the chance, its well worth a visit.
