Most of the Bad Ideas have at one point or another been built, so I will stick with something that I have whiffed before and failed to provide the final version. It will be based around the Austin FX4 London Black Cab, a vehicle that is not built for speed the most I ever achieved was 99.97mph with the Nissan 2.7L with a three speed automatic gearbox. Yes there was a hearse conversion and a soft-top,plus a long-wheel base but these were customised along with the van version. I'm thinking along the lines of a emergency response vehicle, yes I know that it doesn't have 4x4 but it did share the same engine with the Land Rover no not the V8. City Response version.

Something Kriegsmarine but with a Bismarck turret?  :o
Surprisingly, Drachinifel did his Rum Ration this past week on HMS X.1, which, other than the diesels, was actually a decent cruiser submarine.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

There's a credible  backstory that  could be created here.  During the Blitz (WW2)  London taxis were equipped with a ladder on the roof rack and a trailer pump (Coventry Climax, I think)  to augment the London Fire Brigade.  Perhaps you have identified a failed attempt to keep this going after the war.

Quote from: PR19_Kit on February 22, 2025, 05:07:54 AMThe Tyrell P34 worked quite well, and won the 1976 Swedish GP, and the other P34 was second. I'd say that was a GOOD idea.

And like such things in F1, the FIA banned it.......................
The FIA clause that banned 4WD/AWD and more than four wheels was added into the rules prior to the 1983 season, but Tyrell had abandoned the P34 after the its poor showing during the 1977 season.

The car was getting bloated as they tried to address its issues. The P34 only performed well on smooth tracks with long corners, it didn't do well under repeated heavy braking. Goodyear not being interested in continuing with the development of the little tires was also a factor.

The Williams FW08 is considered as the most likely reason for the rule change. Six wheels on three axles, one fwd and two at the rear. Both of the rear axles were driven and all six tires were the same size. Six wheels and, effectively, 4WD. It was obviously never raced but the actual prototype was proving to be very quick, on the straights and through the corners.

Primarily the cause of everyone else's lack of success in the '77 &m '78 F1 season was the Lotus 78-79 which introduced ground effect and made all other 'advances' obsolete almost overnight.

Well then, if six tires was a good idea then twelve or more tires would be an excellent idea! Because the "more is better" method always works perfectly!

Italeri provides the 1/24 Land Rover Fire Truck LWB and there's various Austin F4X model kits at reasonable prices.

Fire the ejection seat at the last second! Momentum would carry him over the fence. Land on a convenient haystack. Perfectly good idea.

Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

It would have worked for James Bond! Of course there would have been a hottie waiting for him in the haystack.....
