Quote from: Old Wombat on May 14, 2025, 11:06:23 PMThe Boston looks beautiful in the box ... & comes with metal landing gear & 3 x nose weights (engineered, by the look of them, to fit into spaces in the nose & in the wing leading edges).

Stop tempting me

No flash.

Understated but crisp panel lines & rivet detail (no trenches or mountain ranges).

Good detail on the engines & interior (even has an option for the top to be open - life raft stowage, if I recall correctly).

1 x 1/72 Airfix 02062-4 Defender. This is going in the deep stash, and no it's not some kind of Land Rover.

Is that the one with the Philippine Navy  transfers?

It is indeed  ;D

Not on this occasion. I inherited the transfers from a friend who built the Defender as a Flying Doctor  machine, and then much later passed them to a chap who decided that they would suit a Twin Otter he had on the go.

That's a lot of help in keeping the temptation demon under control  ;)

And yes, it was for the life raft.

Luckily I did manage to score a 48th Monogram A-20 awhile back for next to bugger all..so that's great 😊

Right, that explains some of it. That £99.99 price is for you overseas buyers who don't have to pay VAT, whereas being UK based I obviously do  :banghead: Not to bad a price, until the Government take their cut  :-X

Meanwhile I ordered this on Wednesday from the Big H and it was delivered this morning  I was hoping to get this at Worthing last week, but it was a little bit fresh on the shelves for that.

You cannot view this attachment.

I'm hoping this will be as good a build as my previous Arma kits and get the Mojo mojoing again  :-\  I do have plans, but having found out that the French got their first examples at least 6 months prior to what I'd origionaly thought, they may change.

Interestingly the instructions also include a QR code that you can scan and then print off some extra 3D detail peices, if you've the necessary kit of course. First time I've seen this as an option in a kit.

Did you know the RAF flew some of the French ordered P-36s when they were delivered to Liverpool after the fall of France?

They flew from Burtonwood as local defence and with RAF camo and markings on the top, retaining the French camo and markings underneath!  :o

I did the old Revell one in that scheme umpteen years ago, but I'll bet it's pretty crude compared to Arma's version.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Received today from our very own scautomoton,

1 x 1/72 English Electric P.8 fighter, to become part of the Leuchars Training Facilities Flight.

1 x 1/72 Armstrong Whitworth AW.169, to become a member of 85 Squadron RAF

Amazed at how small both boxes are and the quality of the build instructions that go with them both.
