Belated spitball: what if, as part of Japan becoming a US quasi-protectorate under the terms of the MacArthur Constitution, they were still allowed to build large warships but ONLY to operate in joint task-forces with US Pacific Fleet, say specifically restricted to operations patrolling Japanese or American waters in partnership with USN ships? And as part of this what-if, the unfinished Hull 111 had never been scrapped (admittedly in OTL this was done to provide materiel for the Ise/Hyuga BBCV conversion) but was refitted as "Yamato 2.0" including the Shinano and planned Hull 797 improvements and over the decades given the same upgrades under US auspices as the Iowas? And further, what if Hull 797 was proceeded with postwar, again under US auspices and operational control, as a second Shinano but given the Midway Refit treatment?

Yamato Class Genesis

This is the all main turrets fwd. configuration closest to Yamato, as built.

Battleship guns forward and the firepower of a cruiser aft! What's not to like?

There's already a Boat Girl: a hairdresser called Jackie who just happens to own an ELCO 109ft torpedo boat. She was a bit shy and innocent until she met the gang...

The Elcos were 70', 77' and 80' boats.

Must be an 80-footer then. It's got PT-109 written on the bow, presumably because the artist or writer had a model of JFK's boat or was remembering the movie, and I then mised it up even more. Mind you, strict historical accuracy isn't really Tank Girl's forte... ;)  ;D
