the bronco that i did had a hull and was pretty fugly - i think that popping floats on her would be much more attractive than this little barrel:

But it looks intriguing!  Would the prop-tips hit the water though?

probably.

i lifted the booms and inverted the engines, but they still look a pinch low - i was thinking gull wings for the "version 2" of this one...maybe with those she'd be a winner...

You'd definitely want to invert the engines in any case to minimize spray ingestion problems.  The T76/TPE331 is an easy one to do that with, though I'd take pains to make a short exhaust duct as it's my understanding that Swearingen on the later Merlin and Metro variants found that the long exhaust pipe definitely caused problems and difficulties.  I like the idea of a gull wing myself (consider the Piaggio P.166 as an example for your efforts).

If I ever find Italeri's old 1/72 C-119 Flying Boxcar and Airfix's old 1/72 Shorts Sunderland, I'm going to try kitbashing an amphibious C-119.

If I can get the hull just right, I should be able to adjust the C-119's landing gear so that the mains will keep the hull clear of the ground and I'll build a tail wheel unit to replace the nose gear.

My two initial thoughts would be as early to mid 60's RCN machines. Either with and ASW fit or for rescue work.

Further thought would be after RCN retirement modified for fire killer use. A scooper to predate the CL-215.

I figure the hull on that thing should be deep enough that there should be no prop to water interference issues.

Siebel Si-204 floatplane. (Italian Navy)
B.P. Defiant F.A.A. (twin floats)

If I remember correctly, one of the stipulations of the original Tri-Service LARA RFP was that the plane had to be capable of operating on floats.  I have only ever seen drawings of the Bronco with floats, but I don't believe this was ever tested operationally.

Here's the drawing from Air Progress:

Don't tempt me with that Siebel 204 concept, I've been fighting the urge to buy Kopro's 204 kit for months.

I was also considering picking up Smer's LeO 145 kit and puting floats and late 40s Air France markings on her so she could do short passenger and freight runs across the Mediteranian.

Just think what it would have been like, if Hollywood had built more planes for movies?
I'm looking at the T-6, I mean it's been in 100's of movies/ TV shows, and if they put one on floats, they could make 100 more!

T-6/Arado Ar-196
T-6/Aichi E13A 'Jake'
and there is this Northrop floatplane used by Norway.

The ideas are endless.

ebay is whore - a cheap temptress, singing the siren's song, almost magically sucking the money from our bank accounts

great though, aint it?
