You definately wouldn't want to bump into it on a misty morning off the Yorkshire coast  ;) that's for sure.

You'd struggle to miss it, but the Solong managed to hit a tanker...!  :banghead:

That's two shipping incidents in the same week, a cargo ship went aground on a sandbank in the Humber. No damage, but it'll be stuck until the tide is high enough at the end of the month. Ironically, it's called the Wisdom.

There's been enough of that sort of thing already, thank you!

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Good looking tug out at the harbour in Goderich, ON. Long history ! Built in 1931 from frames of a passenger vessel that was built in 1905, which was destroyed by fire in 1928.

Sad news:

I wonder what the motive was? Jealousy, spite, vested interests, not getting hold of it for themselves?

Whatever; some folk just like to spoil things for others, in whatever way they can.  :banghead:

It's pretty wild to see something that looks cool, take a pic, look into it, and go "wow". So much history right in front of us that most people will never know.

Sad to see some old classics at the wreckers. Oh well, time marches on. Running out of the front end wheelhouse boats ! I think maybe the Saginaw is the last one working ?

Good point, why did so many Lakes ships have their bridges right forward?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Are the lakes more prone to fog than open seas?  Putting the driver (yeah OK, I know - helmsman) right at the front gives them more warning if they are about to hit something (like the continental United States).
I mean look at the Cuyahoga above - how long is that thing, 300 feet?  If the bridge was at the stern they wouldn't be able to see more than a fraction of the way down the length of it in a heavy fog or mist.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

I guess you don't get the monster waves breaking over the bow and threatening to rip the Bridge off on the lakes

I'm not sure about that. I've been to Duluth, right at the west end of the Great Lakes and some of the waves that day were horrendous!

There's even songs about ships having been overwhelmed and sunk on the Lakes in the past.
