Noticing a trend that every idea on this site is received with a chorus of  "Maple Leaf Roundels!" It was inevitable that I'd succumb to this brainwashing. Here is my weekend build, Matchbox Hawk 200 in RCAF markings. I liked the idea of the Black Hawk on the box art but didn't want to do just a demonstration bird. Needing Low Viz decals other than USAF the only one I had were from an Italeri F-18. Hows that for a back story?
Out of the box 'cept for tarted up cockpit, sidewinders and a gun pack from the Matchbox Hawk 100, now Gary's gonna be going on about Equine protrusions.

Hey!  Your photograph prooves this is a true Real aircraft, while this is a What-if site... :D  Yes, it is true, look at the picture, not a model, but scale 1 aircraft, ready to take off... ;)

Cool !

As in, 'feckin' cool' !

Like, really, really cool !

Those little Hawk 200s are one tough looking bird, and that one looks even tougher !

Love the backstory as well, very believable !

:P

Now I'm wishing I wouldn't have sent my 200 kit to Ves !

;)

And it's nay brainwashing, Leigh....it's enlightenment !

Got that right. I'm sure that's snow in the background, so it's outside in canada!

At least, if it's between September and June.  :P

K had to go before I could mention she was painted with three acrylic blacks, flat, grimy and NATO. Resulted in a really nice subtle weathered effect, which dissappeared as soon as I futured it before decals, ended up with very uniform dark shiny black. Three coats of Testors Dullcote did nothing to restore the original non uniformity. Wondering whether I was too subtle or maybe should have used an enamel gloss coat?
Also a little dash of silver paint under the roundels and flag really make 'em stand out, though not visible in these rush piccies

There's something about those single seat Hawks - she sure looks a tough little customer

Great work
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

NICE  B)

A simple idea well executed, love the black scheme and the Canucks will love you for your decal selection ;) .

Geeze .... It's simply love-Leigh.

She has a real look about her. The sort of funny thing is I can really imagine, thanks to budget cuts, our fleet of CF-18's being replaced by 6 of these and a kid with a bannana.

Hey that kid looks serious!

She sure looks the part

Now, what are you building next weekend?  :P

Best looking Hawk 200 I've ever seen, never really been keen on the single seat Hawk but you somehow made it look great, keep up the good work.

Now, that was a weekend well spent, Leigh!

Um, what does it feel like to actually complete a model?   (been so long for Mr.  :dum:  over here....)

Damn, the Canucks have taken over another...  :o

(Oh, wait, I'm part Canuck, and if they win, we get better beer here.)

Yeah baby! Nice job, Leigh!  B)
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.
