So after lurking on several other blogs, I thought I'd give one a go in an effort to get my backside into gear and actually crack on with some modelling! Little intro, I came back to modelling about 10 years or so ago and it's one of a few main hobbies that I seem to rotate through on a fairly regular basis. One of my problems is I'm my own worse critic and although I can produce things I'm happy with, not getting frustrated with how things go can be difficult.

So, what's currently on the table? At the moment, the following:

1/72 Smer D.520 which is/will be sporting an RAF Med type scheme.
1/72 ICM Su-2 which also will be sporting a similar scheme
1/72 Airfix Tempest which will be part of Royal Marine Air Corps
1/72 KP P-51B which will be a member of the Hanovarian Luftwaffe
1/72 Matchbox Gloster Schnitter also for the Hanovarian Luftwaffe

Of the five, four have got stuck at the painting stage so I think you can tell where I need the rocket. That said, I do finish some things...

Neat looker

I like the sound of a Hanovarian AF

Nice work!
And the others sound very interesting.

Sorry for lack of movement on this front guys. I suffer from the attentions of the black dog and sadly he's been hanging around rather a lot lately. That coupled with the heat has really given the old mojo a beating, but hopefully I'll be able to make a baby step or two on one of the above that needs some stickers put on. A nice easy task to help build up the confidence again.

Well, it's taken 8 months, but I have at last started a little tentative modelling. It's been mainly repairing existing models that were damaged in a recent move and working through various weapons packs from Hasegawa and Italeri, the latter leaving a lot to be desired with some items (rocket pods I'm looking at you...) but includes things such as Exocets, Kormorans and the like. Perfect Whif fodder.

Not much I know, but baby steps to build up the mojo!

Build what and when it gives you pleasure. That's the best part of this hobby.

So, as requested, a shot of my desktop. This is one of those "what was I thinking?" jobs at the moment. Trying to differentiate the different marks of Sidewinder and trying to fix the undercarriage on a pair of 1/144 Hornets.

Whilst I do have a magnifying set to help with the latter, the former causes much head scratching.

Now, whilst I'm pretty sure the extreme left of the top row is the 9B, the one below it a bit problematic. As are the cranked/non-cranked pair with a longer seeker head (9J & 9P's?) and the cranked/non-cranked/sort of in between that may be 9L/M's or maybe something entirely different. It doesn't help when, for a very common missile, no company seems to be able to agree how it should be modelled. The only ones I have been able to identify with any real confidence is the 9X...

Any advice is definitely welcome!

Remember our watchword here, 'This is WhiffWorld'.

If you do that it really doesn't matter WHICH fins go with WHICH warhead, or WHICH motor goes with WHICH nose fins.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Whilst true Kit, these are also for RW builds so I do kind of need there to be a little bit of recognition!

That said, the AIM-4's are already earmarked for something the designers never intended

It may be easier to find photos of what they should look like and break out the 5 & 10 thou plastic card...
I see much micro-surgery in your future if you go that way, but OTOH it means you're never going to be stuck if you can't find an accurate kit depiction of a particular missile... ;)

zenrat

There are different types of sidewinder?
 :o

My advice is don't stress the identification, just ensure all those on the same airframe match each other.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
