Ok, what if the Macchi 200 got an uprated engine in the form of an Nakajima Sakae 31?

This is what you'll get:

As you can tell, it's ready for paint.

That looks normal for some reason 😅
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

You'd have to make the port wing a bit longer, then.  :)  It always was, by a few inches, to counter the engine torque, but with that beast of an N-gine you'd need about a foot or more, I reckon.  :)  That would make Kit half-happy, I guess ...  ;)

And Tophe would have loved it.

That's looking very good!

I Japanized an MC.200 a long while ago, but did not change the engine, though (but almost anything else). The (small) radial suits the airframe really well.

Another build finished so another set of beauty pics taken. What if the Macchi 200 was re-engined with an Nakajima Sakae 31 as a collaboration between Japan and Italy? It might have looked like this:

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Good choice of engine! That would give it better power (842.64 kW (1130hp) vs 640 kW (858hp)) for the same weight but would require slightly better fuel (92 octane vs 87 octane).

Very nice!

Nice!

Are the "spinach" circles painted or decals?
