F-20A Tigershark, Area 88
« on: August 25, 2019, 10:33:58 am »
this is the third Area 88 model to be finished in the series.
this is the famous Northrop F-20 Tigershark, flown by Shin Kazama in the OVA and the manga.

the kit is a 1/144 Mini Hobby Models F-20 Tigershark, witch ittself is a rebox of the old LS/Crown kit (that was also released by airfix 20 years ago).
i did however make some changes to the old kit. for starters the intakes were filed out as the old kit has some very thick edges.
the exhaust nozzle was swapped out with that of a canceled revell F/A-18F Super Hornet. from the spares box i got 2 AIM-7 Sparrows and 2 AIM-9P sidewinders, asthe weapons with the kit werent that detailed.

its not the best F-20 out there, but its the only one in 1/144 scale.

decals are DIY with stenciling from a revell F-5E.

That's probably the most iconic plane in the entire series (with Mickey's Playboy bunny F-14A a close second).  Really great job there Nils.  I'm particularly impressed by the logo decals.  Hard to achieve a blend like that.  Well done!
Thanks!
