Wikipedia is quite helpful, look for images for the Squadron markings etc.

Special Hobby No. SH72437 A.W. Meteor NF Mk.11 has markings for 256 Squadron. Not sure if I was going to use the option or leave that decision until later.

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

I've got the Modeldecal sheet with their NF14 on it, along with ZILLIONS of other squadrons too. All very colourful in those days.

I've decided on the colour scheme for the F6 at last. It'll be a commemorative scheme from 256 Sqdn's period when it flew Meteor night fighters, NF11s and 14s in 1958. As I'm posting the F6 as a back-up for the Typhoon (buried in politics by the French in 1988....) it'll be a '30 Years since we last flew fighters' scheme, and it'll look like this, with a few colour flashes and stuff here and there.

So far it's already got the Light Aircraft Grey underside in place, and it's masked up with the first coat of Dark Sea Grey on too.

So a commemorative colour scheme? Sounds like a good idea.

You're not going to believe this..................  ;D

I painted up the F6 in a retro 1958 style RAF night fighter scheme as in the Meteor NF14 diagram above, and I taped the wings out as otherwise they could waggle about while I was painting it, not a good idea. I couldn't get the patterns exactly right of course, a Meteor NF14 is NOTHING like the shape of a Tornado F6 after all, but I got it as close as seemed possible. Then let it dry and added a 2nd coat a few hours later on.

Here it is, wings open.

Then I stripped off the masks from the canopy and fuselage etc and folded the wings back.

The camo pattern matched up almost exactly with the wings folded!!!!!!  :o  :o  :o  :o

I'm tempted to add a bit of dark green on the leading edge of the starboard tailplane so all the patches match up, but would that be cheating?  ;D

I'm not usually a big fan of retro schemes but this one kinda looks like it belongs on the Tornado.  Your adaptation to account for the swing wings is fantastic!

I tend to agree, but I may do it anyway, just so it looks REALLY well matched.  ;D  ;)

The promo drawings for the F.2 were in camouflage, so there is precedent anyway for the camo, which is looking good Kit

I'd leave it be. It looks great and I wouldn't take a chance on it getting goofed up. But just my $0.02.
