Some pics from my visit to the Ulster Aviation Society last week. Pic heavy almost by definition

A general view of Hangar 1 looking over the Bucc's intakes

The main reason why I went there, XH131, the RAF's last flying Canberra

Some grinning idiot stopping XH131 from falling over. Compare this shot with my avatar, taken doing the same thing 11 years ago

XH131's descriptive placque

The Bucc's ECM pod, the first one I've ever seen for real. What a WEIRD shape!

The Puma's cockpit. It looks as if it could fly off right away.

Front end of the Phantom. It's an ex-FAA FG1 although it's in an RAF scheme for the time being. I couldn't get far enough away to get the whole airframe in shot!

Rear end of the Phantom. Some BIG exhausts there!

The Phantom's SUU-23A gun. They have the whole pod, but the outer shell is in 2-3 parts.

A Fireflash missile! I've never seen one for real before, amazing.

The singular Short Sherpa. I thought it was extinct, but apparently not. The wings went missing when it was at Cranfield in the 60s, when I was there (It wasn't me guv, 'onest!) and the museum staff are making a whole new wing, superb.

Looks a tasty museum Kit with a rather nice collection. So are they planning on returning XT864 to her original colours then ?

Yes, she was '007' when she was with 892 and the plans are to repaint her in the Jubilee scheme, as modelled by Fujimi.

Thanks for sharing Kit.

This pic...

...is excellent source material as it shows all the different metal finishes on the bit above the exhausts.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Glad you liked it Fred.

I tried to get a side on pic of the same area but I couldn't get far enough away and my wide-angle lens made it look ridiculous.  :banghead:

Excellent news, I wonder if they will repaint the Buccaneer to match as she was ex FAA and served alongside the Phantoms on Ark Royal

The Ulster Bucc was one of the ones that were painted in the schemes of all the users, and is in XV Sqdn markings at the mo. It still has its other RAF Sqdn flash on the nose, but in silhouette, which looks odd and it's got the S2B big bomb bay tank. I asked if they were going to re-paint it as well, but it's great condition now, so if they do decide to it'll be a long time away.
