I had some "walking around " money left over this month so I was going to buy some computer parts. Well.. yeah.. that lasted real long.     ;D  90% went to kits instead. Some of it has already arrived and some will be here next week I guess...

Not pictured is the Heller Bobkit C-160 (with lil trucks and commandos and stuff!!!)

On the way: 1/1000 Enterprise NX-01 (Polar Lights)
1/72  Hasegawa Shinden II Ace Combat

Then this stuff:

The lil one is a Merlin Models P-59. Been looking for this for a long while. I could have bought a vacuform version but I'm not looking forward to vacuform kits. I've never built one and they look like more trouble than they are worth. Anyway... one of these finally popped up in my price range requirements so I got it. $9 and free shipping.  ;D

I bought the other two because they were cheap. Minimum bid posted and if anyone else would have bid more than even a couple dollars I was out.. but... no one did on either!

The Marlin is missing decals (is this why no one else big on the thing!? To me, missing decals isn't a detractor because that means it's going to be a whif pretty much guaranteed) and the PBY is missing the lil boat and the scuba divers that come with it. (And shark? Is there a shark or did what come with the Cousteau exploring vessell?).   Still, it's a PBY-6 and and it has the things like the external shelves where the divers would sit and all the stuff and the transfers are in GREAT shape. Box ratty but... ehhh.... I got it CHEAP. This one I'll build and eventually I'll buy a nice, complete version to "keep" as a collectible.

EDIT: Oh... by the way, does anyone know what this Merlin P-59 is made of? It's injection molded... but injected with what? Injected with styrene or resin? Don't want to sand up a dust cloud of this thing without knowing.  ;D

Merlin kits were styrene, and some had white metal bits as well.

But be aware they're a bit like Brit Mach 2 kits, they fit where they touch, and that isn't very often! You may need a LOT of sanding and filing before all the parts connect.
Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Thanks... the look, color, and "feel" of the plastic (and the thickness of it) had me wondering.

I had a gander at the pieces and uhhh.... man this thing is beastly. You are dead on about "they fit where they touch".... WOW.  That said... I'm glad to have it!!  I've wanted a P-59 for a while now.

Wouldn't a Special Hobby P-59 be a better starting point?

Most definitely! I'm just waiting to find one in my price range. I have to set limits on how much I can spend on certain kits or else I wind up destitute.  ;D ;D  But that's OK... I'll find one eventually and I actually enjoy the "thrill of the hunt" so I don't mind waiting for one.  I at one time also considered the Hobbycraft one but the first problem with that is the scale is 1/48.  I don't have enough room for anything larger than 1/72.   :-\

I also keep my eyes peeled for the Amodel version. I don't know much about it..  (well, I don't know much about any of these kits, really, aside from the Merlin simply because I have it in my posession) but I figure it, like the SH one, will be worth picking up if I can just get the price down into my comfort zone.

Not a kit, but did get put in the model room. Added some new life into my 20 year old Hi-Fi seperates yesterday. I bought myself a Philips Bluetooth Hi-Fi adapter. I can now stream music from my phone to the Hi-Fi.

Somewhere in the stash is the Hasegawa Grumman Tracker.

Arrived today: a 1/35 Lunokhod from Red Iron models (they do armor mostly, which explains the unusual-for-space-models scale). And I just realized I now have a full complement of models to represent the Russian moon program: N-1 launcher, LK lander and Lunokhod  ;D

Got hands on a 1:72 Hasegawa F-100D for just EUR 2,95,-... Might end up as kitbashing fodder for an F-109, recently presented here as CG artwork. My only problem: in my personal whiffing universe, an F-109 already exists... So it might end up with a different number.  :-\
