I actually got a couple of these sortiment drawer cabinets the other month, each with some 60 odd plastic drawers in them, each drawer with removable dividers so that you can get larger and smaller compartments in each drawer.

Got a couple of similar ones from Clas Ohlson, but without the removable dividers in the individual drawers. Got one on my bench for tools, glues, tape etc and use the other for spare bits and bobs and weapons etc. Very useful and means you at least know where to start when looking for things  ;)

I use empty margarine tubs. Either permanent marker or a strip of Masking Tape and Pen to label the contents and they stack fairly well too.

Dude, yes!  That is awesome!

I remember watching it back in the 80's with my pops.... he had one of them "channel boxes" that would de-scramble the "premium" networks and we watched it on HBO or Showtime or one of them.....

I had some of the little hotwheels type toys of the helo but I had no idea there was a model kit of it!!  :o

Definitely OOB right?

Yes, i think it will be built OOB... then again, i may come up with some up-to-date systems to have a more modern Blue Thunder...
I watched the series on Portuguese public TV, it was aired during a program on which the viewers called in to vote for a show to be aired.
I never had a toy of this... til now!!

Can't resist the mods, ayyyy? lol    By golly I think I still have a couple of the toys I had of this helo. Of course, these were painted differently.. I don't know if I had an original or not but one I seem to remember was a red Sherrif's thing or something...   They always had extendable/retractable tails.

Went to say hi to Dave at my LHS and walked out with a 700 scale USS Tarawa by Dragon. I don't know why, but I did.....

And on my travels I picked up this wee boat. Looks about 35th scale thought it would be fun to detail.

Never seen the series, but apparently it was a reboot before they became fashionable, because the Blue Thunder gets destroyed at the end of the film that preceded the series...

Though, seeing this makes me wonder whether I should build the AH-1T coming from Bungle's stash into a "realistic" interpretation of Blue Thunder...

I think that the AH-1W would be a better base for that, but it should look interesting anyway.
I saw the movie on TV first, then the series came out and i was a bit let down because none of the actors from the movie where in it, but it still had the chopper...
Blue Thunder left a mark so when i found out there were kits of this thing, i kept my eye out for one and Bungle gave me a great deal so i couldn't be happier. I already have a few choppers in the stash but this has top spot now.

I don't know, maybe give it a heavier punch with some Hellfire missiles... From the day i saw the RAH-66 Comanche, i started looking at the Blue Thunder as it's predecessor.

Wow... this is my first of the year... one of the holy grail kits that i thought i'd never have... and coming directly from Bungle's stash, at a bargain price! Thank you so much!

Personally, I'd rather have Airwolf.  Aoshima do a superb redition of it in 48th and they also do Blue Thunder in the same scale.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pF6gpDypqMY

Airwolf - certainly in it's first season - was far superior to Blue Thunder.  There was no real reason why a police department would need a helicopter gunship and it's use in the episodes was really contrived.  Plus the characters were all one note.  At least Airwolf's lead characters and actors had a lot more going for them.

I have never seen the TV episodes of Blue Thunder so I can not make any comment on that.
However if you saw the film you would understand that it was not just a police department that had it but it was in fact an undercover U.S. Government project for a rather violent means of population/riot control.
The film was good .

I've seen the film but I remember seeing the TV series first and I'd liked it at the time but seeing it later, I realised how... lightweight and empty they were, if not downright juvenile.  It's *VERY* sanitised compared to the film it's supposedly derived from.

The film has some really dark undercurrents.

I think I used to have a Blue Thunder helicopter long, long ago? Wish I did now. :(
Can any of today's modern helicopters do a 360 degree loop like in the movie? I thought that was such a cool scene in the film.  ;D

IIRC Lynxes were looped back in the 1970s. It's not as impressive in  real life as it is in the movies of course: more a 'climb and flop'...

Can't remember the Blue Thunder series at all, so can't comment on acting/story lines, but in terms of the helicopter design, Blue Thunder was far more credible than Airwolf IMHO. Other than it's switchable 'stealth mode', pretty much everything on Blue Thunder was doable.

Blue Thunder had a turreted gun, which generally makes more sense for a helicopter since they can't always point their noses in the direction they want to fire fixed guns, whereas Airwolf had those ridiculous pop-out, telescopic-barrelled fixed guns that were claimed to be 4 x 50 cal MGs and two big autocannons (40mm?).

Airwolf's spec, which appeared in the titles, also claimed that it had ten Bullpup missiles and two Sidewinders. That's a missile load that's bigger than the whole cabin, let alone the three tiny tubes they were supposed to be fired from. Also, why Bullpups? They were obsolete, with a dubious reputation, even when the series was new. If you're going to be daft about it, why not claim Mavericks (Bullpup's replacement), or more realistically, Hellfires & Stingers?

Actually, according to the Airwolf Flight Manual which I have had since 1984, the Airwolf has the following (If you choose to believe it.).
4x  30mm machine guns (2 per wing pod.)
2x  40mm cannons (One per wing pod.)
6x  Hellfire short range air-to-surface missiles
12x  Redeye short range air-to-air missiles
6x  Copperhead long range air-to-surface missiles
4x  Falcon long range air-to-air missiles. Carried 2 to a side in compartments on either side of the central ADF missile pod.

I do like the Airwolf too but i prefer the, IMHO, more aggressive look of the Blue Thunder. The movie is good, i like the plot and the actors, much better than the series, i agree that it was polished up and didn't have the darker side of the movie.
The Aoshima kits are great but a bit too expensive for me, but they are indeed great looking kits, i'd love to have them both but i'll have to keep on dreaming for the time being. :banghead:
And i was never aware that the Airwolf carried so much stuff, that's pretty impressive but it does sound a bit too much... but it doesn't make much difference to me cause i'm a Blue Thunder die-hard fan anyway. ;D

Can't find a video clip of the spec coming up, but if you look at the Wiki page, it seems to have changed between the first and second seasons. It's the first season spec that I'm remembering. I'm still pretty sure it came up on the screen at some point (end credits maybe) and in the pilot episode, Moffat definitely uses a 'Bullpup' to take out an American destroyer.

I was disappointed that the meaning of JAFO changed between the Blue Thunder Movie and the TV series.
