Starfix Alpha Jet (I'm not overly familiar with the type's lines so too early to say how wrong it is  ;))

It's gloriously wrong. It looks like it was based off early concept artwork rather than the actual aircraft. Off the top of my head, the kit's leading edges are dead straight, but the real plane's have a subtle compound curve. The kit has a separate nose cone which makes it look like a radome, but the Alpha Jet has none of course.

My idea is to make one as an Argentine aircraft that's a bigger version of the IA-63 Pampa, the resemblence to the Alpha Jet being just as 'coincidental' as it was with the Pampa...

There are actually two companies named Starfix, one in Israel and one in Russia. The Russian one produced a number of ex-Frog and ex-Hasegawa kits. The Israeli one produced ex-kits from Fuji, Heller, Hasegawa, Monogram and Revell. The Alpha Jet is an ex-Heller kit.

Interesting, because I've seen a comparison between Starfix and Matchbox Alpha Jets where the fuselage half from one lines up perfectly with the other, and several parts look identical except for trenches replaced by walls...

Ditto. Not Argentine, but definitely what I was thinking once I saw the considerable differences between the real deal and this (as well as what you pointed out, the vertical stabiliser is also different to the 1:1 aircraft).

Starfix doesn't look like the old Heller as far as I remember it. Think Kiwi Zac is right that it's an adjusted Matchbox knock off, the Matchbox kit was based on a full sized mockup that was a lot different to the real plane.

Just had delivered from Blackbird Models the new BPK 1/72 Pilatus Turbo Porter

Nice kit comes with alternative engines for the RAAF or Austrian versions, underwing stores, resin and etch parts. The plastic parts are good quality fine engraved detail. Not cheap but not too bad for finally a decent kit of this unusual aircraft.

I've got the special edition of the Turbo Porter that was done by the Austrian IPMS in a well OTT colour scheme. Is there something wrong with that moulding then? I don't know what the source kit was though.

Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

There's been an injection Turbo Porter for years and as High Planes are renown for their accuracy, it should be a really good model

For a Limited Run kit, they've been on the market for years though   ;). The only HPM prices that I saw that got really ridiculous were when Hannants used to change the Aus$ sign for GBP sign (sorry my keyboard doesn't have a pound sign). Recently they do seem to have adjusted their prices ----

Rescued from my local sorting office today, yes they are open on a Sunday but only for a few hours....

2 x 1/72 Airfix BAC Strikemaster kits in the same box. An ebay win which will be most likely real world, but not guaranteed.

1 x 1/144 Tu-95 resin replacement engines. Another ebay purchase. These engines were used by Dizzyfugu in his recent Soviet airliner build. I intend to use them for their intended purpose and use the engines from the kit for other things.
