That'll be a sound locator for detecting one of those infernal aeroplane thingies I'm sure.  ;)
Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

There was an actual proposal, similar to this, for the US to produce small battleships for the South American navies, to replace the WW1-era ships.

USS New Jersey, BB-62, Vietnam
USS Neshanic, AO 71, out of Lindberg Neches and a WHOLE lot of extra details
And several other vessels named after NJ, locations and battles herein, and people herefrom
