It must have been a bitch getting that to come down on the deck, you can see it doesn't really want to land.  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

We need a re-issue of the 1/72 U-2.   Lots of WHIF potential.... Anyone seen any in the shops lately?  Seem quite rare in the U.S.A. at least.

With those wings a navalised U2 would surely have to be called a Lockheed Albatross?

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

There's 3 possibilities, the original Airfix one, the USAirfix release of the same kit that has a variety of different decal schemes, and the Minicraft one. The latter looks at first sight like another Airfix re-pop but it isn't, there's various differences, the most obvious being the 'low line canopy'.

I used that kit for my Beriev S-13 'Moonshot' back in 2014.

When they built the TR-1s (or U-2Rs if you like) they added folding wing tips, but even those wouldn't get them down the lifts, it was just so they took up less space on the deck.

At first I thought someone was joking but seeing is believing! I don't know why anyone would want to land a TR-1 on a carrier but then they did it with a C-130 too.

The idea was to "expand basing opportunities" by allowing carriers to be placed in out of the way places.  I've never heard of any being operating from carriers but I know they can take off and land from carriers.

The only thing I can imagine is a refueling stop and/or change pilots. To have one parked on deck would have to interfere with normal flying operations. No carrier captain would be happy about that!

I wonder if this was a one time demonstration to give the Soviets more to worry about. Same thing with the C-130.

Maybe if the U2 pilot needs to stop for a piss?

I love the C130 carrier footage.  It's just so wrong...

I'm sure I've read somewhere that they're contemplating test landing a C-17 on a carrier

Why not go the whole hog and put a C-5 down on one?  ;D

That's probably what I had been reading, the discussion on whether it was photo-shopped or not
