The excellent CGP Grey's "brief" explanation of the history of the British Royal Family. This is the most ruthlessly "simplified" version I've ever seen, and it still makes your head spin:

Couple of things, my family arrived with William in 1066 (as I understand my family history), which means that technically, I am Norman French...  or as I prefer, Viking as the Normans, were descended from Viking settlers...

Norman French is still used when laws are enacted in Parliament.

Same (maybe)! Family tradition has it that our ancestor was a Ralph de Wevere who came over in 1066, was knighted after Hastings, and was granted lands in Cheshire. The name then got gradually anglicised to Weaver. Can't be even vaguely proven and might all be BS, but I know there WAS some serious inherited money in the family until about three generations ago.

That was presumably before you spent it all on models kits, yes?  ;D  ;) <_<

Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Chance would've been a fine thing. According to my mother, the individual responsible blew it on "slow horses and fast women".

One of the many spellings of Weaver was also Weafer.
I see it was just a small step from Weafer to Whifer in your family history.
