I couldn't remember who'd done the M10 Panther, cheers.  They'd look good together.

Can I ask a dumb question ? What were the crane jibs for on the left hand side ? I can imagine one being for ammunition handling, but why two ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

they are the cranes to attach and remove the outer sets of tracks, so that it can be rail transported and not be massively out of gauge,  ( and you thought the problem that the Tiger tank had with its width was bad, its nothing on this beastie)  when its en route and dosnt need the lowered ground pressure, they are towed along behind it as a trailer.   i cant find a pic at the moment, but im certain it came up in one of the chieftains videos

But the US Turtle of doom!
i may have to get one as its certainly bonkers enough.

As SP says, mating the outboard track set.  Lots of good information and pictures here: https://mikesresearch.com/2024/07/28/us-super-heavy-tank-t28/

Two different tank transporters, two different reactions to the weight of the Doom Turtle (from the linked site above)

Also to fit inside LSTs.  Apparently with the outboard tracks attached, there was only about an inch clearance between the tracks and the guide rails.  More info about those tests in the referenced site above.

There's an option in the kit to pose the outer tracks in travel mode.

There's also options for the gun, suspension and tracks. Quite a lot of stuff to keep to one side for whiffery, which might help justify what imagine will be a hefty price as it's a large kit. You've also got the additional IR kit and drums with the M28 kit.

But you get a jig included!  To be fair, it seems like the way they've done the sprue gates is handy.

Cheers lads.

I thought they might have had something to do with the outer set of tracks, but then thought "but if so they'd need a set of cranes on both sides"  so how ??

Crane mounting brackets on both sides of the hull. They'd just swap the crane from one
side to the other.

That's Takom for you.  Why make it one part when it could be four...

My guess is the crane is unhitched and switched to the other side when needed.  There appears to be fittings for it.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

PR19_Kit

Do they need a crane to move the cranes across?  ;D

Or just a whole bunch of squaddies to heave them over there?
