Seriously?  They had the new mould '57 chev at over AU$100?
Thats ridiculous, even for the special edition in a biscuit tin.
And there I was thinking current local retail prices for car kits were getting stupid.

The old mould is a better kit IMO as you still get all the old custom and drag parts included.  Especially the S.C.O.T. blower with sidedraft manifold.
Opening one of them is like being transported back to my childhood as it was the first car I ever built.

1/16 scale?  :o

That's a BIG model, and looking at it, it's got to be a lot of plastic for the price. Airfix want that much for a 1/48 Mosquito!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I had one of them way back when.  It is a lot of plastic.  Very thick plastic in some places.
I got the impression they scaled up the 1/25 kit as while it's bigger the level of detail isn't any more than on a smaller kit from the same era.  ISTR metal axles with possibly the front one going through the engine.
But these are over 40 year old memories so don't quote me.
It would make a good basis for a superdetailing project.  Phill could really work wonders on one.

Fred's memory is bang on, it's a simple kit with minimal clunky detail and the front metal axle passes just in front of the engine.
All of which is surprising for a kit released in 1983.

I got the Matchbox release of the 64 1/2 (sic) Mustang in that scale, and that about covers it for that kit, too.
Still, it's a large scale Mustang! so what's not to like?
I just wish there was a replacement for the windscreen part, which has a couple of tube glue spots right in the middle... :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

How soon until we see a diorama of a 1/16 car getting run over by a 1/16 tank?

It'd be the same kit I think. M'box had a deal with AMT and produced a number of AMT kits under their label.

How about the old '12000 grit emery paper and toothpaste' process on the windscreen?

Yeah, the Matchbox 1/16 kits have the AMT logo on as well.

I may have to resort to that, but the issue is that the glue has eaten into it somewhat; it's not just a smear on the surface...  :banghead:

AMTs dig through their old moulds continues and they have reached something i'm excited about.

I've wanted an Unreal Edsel since I discovered their existance about 20 years ago.  After all, an altered wheelbase '58 Edsel funny car.  What's not to like?
Unfortunately they were very rare and I had resigned myself to never getting hold of one.
But now, they've been repopped.  Hooray!  Take that collectors.

I've NEVER seen one either, only pics in mags.

I eagerly await your interpretation  of it Fred.
